Went here with my girlfriend and young daughter this afternoon. I ordered small breakfast, my girlfriend had the small vegetarian breakfast and my daughter the small cheese on toast. For drinks I had a small bottle of coke and my girlfriend had a tea. When they say "small" it was really what you would expect from a children's menu. Mine for instance had 1 piece of bacon, 1 cheap, bland, pre-frozen sausage, an egg, half a small tomato and a small slice of toast. All in all about 50p worth of ingredients on mine and a bit less on my girlfriends plate. My daughters toast had some cheese on it but where the cheese hadn't been placed anywhere near the edge/crust before cooking, it had caused the whole perimeter to get burnt. I'm not talking slightly browner than you would want but incinerated around the edge.To receive such small portions at below par quality you feel kind of robbed when they charge you £17.70.I have given an extra star as regardless of how i feel about the food, the staff were very polite and gave good service. But unfortunately all in all I won't be visiting again.

My wife loved her cheese on toast,my savoury cream tea was sublime. The pot of tea was georgeous ,proper tea,not a tea bag in sight.

I have been here several times and it has been consistently great. Staff are lovely and very accommodating and friendly. The savoury cream tea and sweet cream teas are amazing, proper loose tea in a teapot and a lovely big scone with cheese and pickle or jam and clotted cream l! We have tried the breakfast and that too was lovely also, good amounts and fair pricing. We will definitely return for another cream tea soon.

Wonderful old fashioned tea room with friendly waitresses. Best cup of tea we have had all week, with a hand knitted teacosy on the pot.Delicious cheese scone, fresh from the oven. The lemon meringue pie looked scrumptious. The lunch menu looked very appetising but we were only in Newport for the morning so didn't try it.A definite place to return to.

Where to go for breakfast in Newport on a Saturday morning. Seems options for a cooked breakfast are few these days. One of the options we found this morning is The God's Providence House tea rooms. An interesting building with a tale which explains the name. A full English and good choice of tea or coffee available served by cheerful staff in pleasent surroundings, a great start to our Saturday.

Amazing. We always come here for breakfast when visiting the Isle of Wight. They do a lovely full English breakfast but the best thing by far is the setting and the atmosphere.
