The House of Spice in Isle of Wight

We arrived to stay in Shanklin on a Saturday evening and everywhere seemed to be booked up for dinner. Luckily we found this place where we managed to get a table immediately. I was worried thst this might be a bad sign but i was wrong! The service was good and so was the food. Would definitely recommend.

The food and service was excellent, we were badly let down the night before at a restaurante on the sea front, this more than made up for the terrible meal we had the previous night. I would say the meal surpassed our local very good Indian Tandori Spice. Thanks for the excellent meal and wine.

Nice clean restaurant, very busy, food very good, well worth a visit

We weren’t welcomed or seated when we came in, we just sat on a empty table we could find. After ordering food we received it quite quickly but made to wait as we were not provided with any cutlery to eat with. Food was very overpriced for the portion sizes. Not alot of flavouring either; briyani rice was very bland but meat was cooked well.

Super friendly restaurant, excellent menu with some dishes I’ve not seen elsewhere alongside the classics. Make sure you book, especially if you’re hoping for a Saturday night dinner. The best naan I’ve had anywhere.

We came from London for a holiday to Isle of Wight and visited this restaurant today for meal . Staff not helpful. Four different staff came to my table and none of them speak a word or thank you. Not even ask how the food was The food not tasty at all. The price is double compare to London.

It was mainly mixed experience in my honest opinion. We were asked to wait outside for a table. We were glad to be seated, the lady was kind and helpful. Hence the 2 stars. Had to wait for the menu, only got it after asking the gentleman incharge. It was a longer wait for the food which was about average. Easter Bank Holiday rush slightly understandable however, this is no excuse for slow service. There was a wait for the bill surprisingly enough maybe because I asked for a take away box. Luckily the lady came to our rescue once again and promptly provided what we ask for. Given IOW may be a tourist spot and 60-80% of clients are probably visitors on the Isle; please work on improving efficiency and productivity of all staff. Only the lady stood out from the rest. In customer service, excellence should be the norm and not an exception. I'm here for an Easter break and I know I'm not going back.

Best curry house in Shanklin maybe best in Isle of Wight. Had a great meal here, with God service. Advice you make a table reservation as it's popular.

Food very tasty and staff helpful. It was busy so booking recommended. Starter was good but mango sauce bit runny. Curry and side dishes enjoyed, rice good and nan breads tasty. Lots of choice.
