Very busy and popular pub by the sea. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Traditional English food hot and cold. Desserts 🍨 🥧 pies sandwiches chips etc..Staff very helpful. Would be difficult to navigate a wheelchair into the pub. Live music sometimes and piano for playing. Good atmosphere.

Lovely location, and inside is like an old world mariners haunt. There was nice, live music and good service. The menu is generally geared towards sea food, and as such, non sea food is a bit of an afterthought, as our southern fried chicken & chips were nothing to brag about.I'm sure the sea food dishes are better. Prices are on the high side too.

Went for our usual holiday treat, lunch at the Spyglass. However, the prawns were a little on the chewy side this time. Also, expected larger prawns in their Garlic Prawn dish, not small ones (now I know but would not order again). Everything else good.

Lovely location and good menu with generous portions. Good range of drinks but above all brilliant and friendly service. Other places could learn a lot from this place. Thank you!

We beat the rush for a table (9 of us) by arriving shortly before lunch, so be prepared for a wait if you're arriving at peak times. Bookings not possible due to their popularity (And, I guess, many people booking and not showing over the years). Onto the review...We were delighted by the friendly staff who acted like we were the only ones there and had all the time in the world for us. Wide range of drinks (although no Fanta/Tango) and a huge menu serving a range of needs (one of our part is gluten intolerant and they were shown what was safe to eat).On arrival, we regretted ordering additional chips because the helpings were so generous. My prawn baguette was AMAZING along with is accompanying salad, so the chips were less keenly devoured due to already being filled up.Staff left us alone but came to check on a couple of occasions that all was okay. They promptly cleared away plates without making us feel we had to go, cracking jokes and generally making us feel at ease.Eating outside meant we were also able to enjoy the awesome views over Ventnor and the sea. I guess on a windy day it may be blustery due to its location, but people can go indoors, can't they?!We loved the experience, can't wait to return next time we're on hols.

Quirky and atmospheric pub. Typical pub grub, but well done. Very very busy, a victim of its own success perhaps? Well done to the kitchen and chefs, whose feet mustn't touch the ground, and bar staff for working through the throngs of customers calmly and happily. One of the few places that are open on a Monday night as well. Enjoyed the band too!

This place was so busy.... But the service was brilliant. Menu was quite big but we just went straight for lobster on the specials board and it did not disappoint. For no frills seafood and a pint right on the sea this is great.

Fabulous... Food is massive and lovely.. great inside the pub as so much history and things to see... Has a lovely outside area also.. will get very busy so plan ahead. Parking can be a nightmare on the main seaside stretch so again arrive well in advance as this beach is very popular so parking can be a nightmare but worth the wait if your going for something to eat. Loads of shops as well so you can make a whole day of it there.

Whoa- this was pretty spectacular. I had the mussels and they were huge. My misses had the crab and prawn salad and could not finish it. Mega portions and fresh fish caught recently. Cannot fault it. Friendly staff and location right on the sea.

Great location, good vibe and really great staff. 4 of us ate here Friday night. Live music (Scarecrow) was fun. Beer was very below par, not sure why. And the food was below average too. Simple pub food, but not cooked we'll. Would visit again but would not eat.
