Valentino's in Isle of Wight

It was absolutely fabulous we had chateaubriand and it was so tender a really good night with plenty of food

Food was tasty & good portion size. All 5 of us enjoyed our dinners & deserts. Seems very popular so will need to book. Only criticism is that it was a bit like walking into a time warp with decoration, music etc.

Visited October 2021 but Google would not let me review at the time. Me and my partner were on the Isle of Wight for a few days and after looking at the favourable Google reviews decided to give this place a try.The fact I have repeatedly checked back since October to see if I could leave a review yet should give you an insight into how much I needed to leave this feedback.Firstly, the decor is really dated but that isn’t really an issue, could just do with an update as it feels a bit tired. Other than that it does feel quite homely.The 1 star is for our waitress, who was very friendly and quick, couldn’t fault them at all. Served us everything with a smile.What was awful was the food. I don’t understand how it was so bad when there are so many reviews saying it’s great with pictures of good food, ours was dreadful. I ordered the lasagne and it was a slab of unseasoned, bland, stodgy microwaved lasagne. My partner ordered carbonara and it didn’t have any sauce on, it was just wet spaghetti swimming in water, if it was a “sauce” it was the thinnest sauce in the world. Again, bland. The worst thing was the dishes were around £14. I’ve had better microwaved lasagnes from supermarkets.We didn’t complain at the time because honestly we were just a bit baffled by the whole thing and wanted to leave.There are other 1/2 reviews on here saying the same as me, I don’t understand the good reviews because it was shocking. We went on a Thursday night and it was pretty dead, so do they just not have an actual chef in on Thursdays hence the microwaved food? I don’t get it.Feel a bit bad leaving this review as I never ever leave bad reviews but I had to.

Great food and staff. The best idea is to go with the set menu. Unfortunately they could do with a slightly bigger selection from that menu.

Last minute booking , accommodated us with no problem. Service as with the food was excellent.

My first time there. I went with friends...lovely cosey atmosphere...food was great...ordered a Calzone pizza, which wasn't on the menu and it wasn't a problem making it for me...also asked for a starter that wasn't on the main menu, but on the set menu, no problem either...great service... friendly staff...an all round great experience...thank you for a lovely evening

It's difficult to get a table at the better rated restaurants and pubs in the Isle of Wight at the moment so Sally and me were pleased to get an early slot at 6.30pm today. We arrived to find the tables mostly filled already but our table was waiting for us. The Italian food menu was varied and enticing but we fancied a steak and went for châteaubriand. I can tell you it was an absolute treat with the steak cooked just perfectly and a good selection of fresh vegetables on the side. With some good house red, what more could you ask?

I have been here many times and have always found the staff friendly, the service good and the food high quality. The prices are very reasonable and the menu is varied. Although this is an Italian restaurant the menu has English translations.Children are welcome and are catered for.I would recommend a visit.

Don't let the decor fool you. Yes it's a bit dated but the atmosphere is still pleasant, the staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable and the food was really good.
