Paul especially altered the scones in the cream tea to make them egg free for us, allowing us to enjoy a cream tea lunch on a beautiful sunny day. Thank you to Paul and 5 stars for both the food and the service.

Beautiful location for a quality well cooked meal. Try the Old Shanklin Pie...stewed Isle of Wight lamb with spinach and mint..fantastic

Absolutely delicious. We love this beautiful restaurant/tearoom, the garden is set with little secret places to sit and is so charming. Finally after visiting previously we decided to order their Shanklin pie. Oh its good, so meaty. The prawn salad is incredible and the Isle of Wight scone so fresh. I think their sticky toffee pudding is possibly the best I've tasted. The owner is delightful and staff so friendly. 10/10

Wonderful place with friendly staff for the best cakes, scones and drinks. It’s very unique as well because the scones are baked in the form of the Isle of Wight. Lovely experience, highly recommend.

Fantastic home made scones, cakes etc and a delightful garden to sit and eat in. Perfect place for an afternoon tea after the beach!

Vernon Cottage has the best cream tea I've ever had!! The scones are just perfect in every way! They are also shaped like the Isle. Of Wight! It went well with my lovely hot chocolate as the day was a little on the cooler side so it warmed me up. My husband says the Ploughman's is really good too 😋We've been here several times over the years and always can't wait to go back for a visit each time ❤️

Nice pub with a nice outdoor beer garden seating arrangement. The staff and the lady that manages are all nice and friendly. During these Covid times - all seated outdoors & you have to queue one at a time to order at the Bar. Booking in advance recommended. Unfortunately, the food was a bit hit-and-miss. Some was good, but some was shall we say, straight out of the Tesco Value 99p aisle. The nachos - AVOID. Had better at Wetherspoons. Cheesy gloop ontop of the tortilla chips & the guacamole was almost certainly -no, definitely!- out of a jar and no avocados involved! The fishcakes- overpriced pap. Tesco Value 99p quality. AVOID.All in all - Okay! Post-Covid, lovely place to have a drink for sure. If eating... Just be sensible with what you order to eat. Keep it simple.

Popped in for cream tea and desserts with the family today. All of the desserts were amazing!!The decor was nice and the inside was very cosy. The gardens looked lovely and I imagine they would be fantastic in the summer. All in all a fantastic place.Oops. Forgot to mention, the staff were very welcoming and polite.

Totally scrumptious food. Lovely surroundings. Right next to the big car park with access directly through a small gate. The cream teas are to die for. Note to self "must start the diet" (next week).

Having just arrived in the area for the first time. Our family of two adults and two kids found this very interesting restaurant. It feels more like your local pub, but with a good mix of class and style which is unique and comforting. I enjoyed the banter, the noise, and the atmosphere very much. The owner(s) and staff are so friendly, and helpful. We felt this place is the heart and soul of the community. Plus very family friendly. We hope to come back again if we ever visit the Isle of Wight in the future. The food is very tasty! The portions are huge! I would highly recommend the Vernon burger! The veggie sauce is awesome!
