Wights in Isle of Wight

Wights fish and chips restaurant in Ryde high street is excellent. We had a delicious meal there today, the fish was very good and there were loads of chips. Hot drinks were great value too. Definitely recommend.

The young man who took my order this evening seemed to want a fight! I only ordered chips and battered burgers. The man asked if I wanted the salad with that. I thought to myself - he thinks I want a hamburger. I clarified that I wanted BATTERED burger. He replied "Yeah I know what battered burgers are mate", in a slightly aggro manner. He then asked a staff member behind him if it comes with salad. They told him no, because it's the battered one. He turned back to me and repeated in an aggro way "I know what a battered burger is mate". He then told me the price, which seemed slightly too high, but I wasn't keen on the idea of arguing with someone with temper issues. I left without the meal and went to the much friendlier and cheaper chip shop round the corner.

Had an excellent sitdown lunch for one (my wife doesn't like fish and chips but went shopping) of fresh plaice and chips and a large pot of tea here a couple of weeks ago, on my 74th birthday. Can't fault the service, cleanliness of the restaurant or quality of what I thoroughly enjoyed, for just £10.

I've visited loads of coastal town fish and chip restaurants and this place Tops the list of must eat places. I had the haddock and chips cooked to perfection. They have their own home made tarter sauce rich and creamy complementing the dish so well. Wights is just not you average chippy!!Customer Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Location ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best Fish and Chips ever. 1/2 fish portions available too. Sit in or take away. Very comfortable.

Excellent service from friendly staff.First rate fish and chips, tea and butter and bread. No hurry to vacate our table. Smaller portions available if you prefer. "Doggy box" provided for our chips we couldn't manage.Clean tables and tidy condiments.

fresh cooked fish & chips. Always made to order, or you can phone your order through and collect. My personal favourite item on their menu is the Light Bite Fish and Chips, it comes with Fresh lemon & tartare sauce.

First time I've been here while visiting the isle. They were fantastic and enjoyed on the beach with friends. Customer service was great and we pre-ordered as there were a lot of us. Can't fault them.
