In I.O.W on Holiday. First night here we discovered the Woodmans. Brilliant, friendly staff and awesome food. Both had the garlic mushrooms to start, the wife had the king prawn linguine. I had the Lasagne, proper home made good food. Booked again for later in week.

Lovely pub with superb service. Only wanted a ā€˜snack’ after a seven mile walk and we chose from the Small Appetites section. Husband had liver with all the accompaniments and I had scampi. For a ā€˜small appetite’ this was a beyond satisfactory size, well cooked and beautifully presented. Beer and cider excellent and a free tea or coffee to follow.Fresh attractive decor and toilets immaculate. Exceptional value for money - only slight grumble was the overload soundtrack on the loop.

A warm and friendly welcome from management and serving staff. They accommodated four of us despite not having booked for an evening meal. Fantastic food - served hot and fresh, mostly all locally sourced veg etc. Excellent value and portion sizes. We would fully recommend this pub for food, friendliness and price.

What a brilliant evening. There were lots of interesting things on the specials board, but in the end we opted for the Woodman's Steak Special and it was absolutely delicious. The steak was beautifully cooked and so tender that it nearly melted in your mouth. It was served on a mound of mushrooms and new potatoes with a tasty side salad. The service was great, and the amaretto tiramisu finished the meal a treat

Great camper stop with adjacent field in good weather and good climbing frame and swings for the children!. Very helpful and hospitable. Food is reasonable and has good selection of beers. It is near the road but not too much traffic after 10pm. They could put in electric hookup and a water tap to make this a perfect place for motorhomes but definitely up there with the better pub stops!

Went to the Woodman Arms last night with my husband and a friend and each one of us had a lovely meal. We were greeted with a genuine smile from the young lady at the bar when we arrived and shown to our table which was in the restaurant area of the pub, what a lovely place to have a chat and a meal, the background music was just at the right level and the chairs were very comfortable. You could see the beautifully kept garden area outside and all in all it was a very pleasant place to have a meal. The portions of food were very generous and we all commented on how each other’s meals were totally delicious. We booked again before we left to make sure we get a table, I can imagine it gets booked up quite quickly. I’ll make sure I tell all our friends what a lovely place this is.

We have visited previously, but on this occasion it was to celebrate my mum’s 81st birthday. The table was laid immaculately with some beautiful spring flowers and menus. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted, shown the specials board and escorted to our table. As starters, my mum and I shared the pate, which was lovely and a generous portion, and shared between my mum and I. My husband had the garlic mushrooms, which in hindsight I wish I had ordered as they looked amazing, unfortunately my mum has a slight aversion to garlic šŸ˜• My husband had the mixed grill, which looked amazing and actually beat him as he was unable to finish the chunky fries…..therefore I did!!! I ordered one of the specials which was the slow cooked belly pork with creamy mash and red cabbage. It was beautiful, the pork was melt in you mouth and the cracking, just crunchy enough without requiring a dentist! My mum had the cottage pie, which despite an often reduced appetite, she devoured, albeit leaving a few of the generously plated vegetables. The prices are fair and the service impeccable, and I would highly recommend. To provide some context, on a normal Wednesday evening, the whole restaurant was booked. That in itself says that the Woodman’s Arms must be doing something right.Highly recommended

I've driven by this pub several times and always meant to pop in. Glad I did as it was lovely inside, with friendly, polite staff and great ales. Didn't eat but next time going to give myself more time. Lots of parking outside.

A good local pub, decent, honest food. I had liver and bacon with mash - the mash and vegetables were great, huge portions. The liver was a bit overdone so a little rubbery. The decor is a bit old. Staff were welcoming and polite, service was fairly quick and clearly the veg was freshly prepared so very tasty. No complaints, it is what it is and I'm sure many people will rate it 4 or 5 🌟, just didn't quite do it for me.

First visit and we were so impressed. Lovely food, lovely staff. We only went in for a light bite/ snack. Very generous portions and tasty too. Definitely will be returning.
