Brilliant location a short walk from the sea front and local shopsHas everything you need from a basic hotelCould do with one or two more plug sockets for a family sized roomHowever with this being an old listed building I presume when it was built we did not need as many plugs as we do now.

The worst 'Hotel' stay we've ever had. Blood stains on the sheets, nails sticking out of handrails, cigarette butts everywhere and general lack of maintenance on the building.Rooms: 1/5  |  Service: 3/5  |  Location: 4/5 …More

They need to advertise more accurately to avoid disappointment. Clicked on classic room showing a picture of a four poster bed. Did not get this but got a tiny stuffy room with a shower that just dripped. Felt like Alice in wonderland walking through tiny door and we are not tall! Maybe OK for business but not recommended for vacation. Staff nice, bar over priced, breakfast was ok

Very disappointed with the cleanliness of the restaurant. We sat down to our table that was covered in dust . Cutlery covered in dust . Very limited menu . We didn't eat. Would not recommend.

Popped in for a pint wish I hadn’t bothered. More staff than customers and yet still couldn’t find time to clear vacated tables of leftover food etc. No atmosphere whatsoever. Barman annoyingly asked for payment before starting very slowly (correctly) to pour my Guinness. Left after drinking said pint - still no dirty tables cleared.

We were the only people eating on a quiet Sunday evening but the staff treated us extremely well. The brie and the prawn starters came on a REALLY fresh salad and the roast was tasty, good veggies, tatties, gravy and Yorkshire. The meat was perhaps a little tired hence 4 stars but really we might have expected that as a recent lunchtime the roast was most excellent and got 5 stars.

I've known Yelf's over decades. Decades. Always loved it. I didn't recognise any of the staff today, & they were polite, if seemingly stressed. The decor is, I think, tired-looking, cold. I think someone needs do a comprehensive spring clean for the start of the all-important new season. It personally didn't inspire me. Seems the management needs up it's game. Lovely to have a conservatory & small paved seating area. Decent bar food, competitively priced. I'm sorry on today's experience Not to give it 4 stars.

Super tired hotel, but very historic and pleasant staff. Stayed 2 nights, my room was 14, which was one of the biggest on 2nd floor facing main road and backyard. As it was windy outside it was very chilly inside. Very bad isolation and window frame kept moving and making noises throughout the night. Bathroom and bed were decent, but definitely missing extra duvet. Unfortunately ceiling wasn't OK, and few bits fell of on the 1st day on the armchair and floor. Breakfast was good. Restaurant food was decent too. I understand its hard to run hotel on IOW when it's off season but at least irons shall be not black like I had and hair dryers shall be available. Reception was closed even at 820am. And we were not informed about it. Not the worst but far from a decent level.

Friendly reception and guest service providers. Four of us went for a meal, each having something different from the menu, all of us agreed the food was well presented and was flavorsome. The level of service during the meal was spot on, not to much and timely for drink and other requests. Yelf's is well situated for local shops and the train and bus services to the rest of the island
