Horace's Fish Bar in Lewes

Fancied fish & chips on the sea front so off we go to get some. What a mistake that was a greasy mess it was fish had a funny taste & chips were just scraps. Seagulls loved them though

The chips are terrible, a handful of proper chippy chips, if that, the rest is chewy shards of cardboard slivers, an absolute rip off, never again. A big thumbs down.

Brilliant food. But was very rude to me when I questioned why their menu on their website was priced differently to their menu. And jumped straight down my throat in a defensive manner about it. Have used this place for years and did not have a good experience

After watching football, we wanted a chippy supper, before returning to the Premier Inn near by, we drove passed horace's at first being on a side road, but happy we found it, and to be honest we were surprised at how reasonable the price's were, the order was quick, and we took back to the hotel , I ordered large cod medium chips and curry sauce, my grandson had 2x sausage with medium chips ,and for around £11 it was well worth the price, and we both enjoyed what we had, the only slight disappointment was the home made curry sauce, it was a bit too gloopy, and needed a bit more water adding

It would be five but as of yet I have not tried the amazingly price under a fiver cod or haddock. That’s right, less than £5 for fish and chips. Small bag of chips, small they ain’t, just £1. I thought the quality would be poor due to the pricing but it isn’t. As good as Chippie around for chips….more reviews on fish to come, but I have partaken of the chips and the saveloys over the past years when a little inebriated and hungry…it was good then and it’s just as good now. The owner/cook seems pleasant enough and the staff are about as friendly as one can expect these days.

Excellent fish and chips cooked to order and the mushy peas are decent, £6.70 with a bottle of pop. Excellent meal deal. 👍Buy British.

Good value kids meal 4 chicken nuggets , chips fruit shoot drink and a lolly plus a ketchup sachet and only £2.70.There loads of chips in it , plenty for any kid.

Sorry but this was one of the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. The chips were brown and full of grease or maybe cooked in very dirty oil? The food seemed old. No thank you.

The the 2 young girls that work in there are extremely rude I think they need to learn some manners, also the chips where so greasy they made me feel sick and the fish cake was burnt also the saviloly tasted like it had been sat there for weeks. No wonder the food is so cheap it's defiantly the worse chippy I have been to, the one on south road is so much better and better quality. Will not be going to horaces again and won't be recomeding it to anyone.
