Excellent wine selection curated by the passionate and knowledgeable owners, who are always ready to share their thoughts and findings and help find something to suit all wallets and tastes.Platters are smashing, well presented featuring carefully selected local produce. If you fancy it, the coffee's great too; add a cake or brownie and you're sorted.Wouldn't be without them, great guys and the shop's perfect for gifts!

I’ve recently moved to the area and have visited Symposium a handful of times already. The selection is great and the staff are so helpful and provide really thoughtful recommendations. I’ll be visiting regularly so I can sample more of their selection and support such a great small business – and I really hope to try out the wine bar once the pandemic has passed!

A lovely spot for a glass or two of wine and a cheeseboard. Also the perfect location to pop in and pick up a bottle to take home. They have a great selection of local and English wines and are always happy to talk to you about them.

The best wine Bar & Merchant in the area, not just great wine but also other drinks. We had a gin tasting here with 20 people which was really good. Please support them!

I like this format of wine shop / bar. I just used it in its former capacity, and was pleased to find a decent selection of English Sparkling Wines. At least five different wineries represented if I recall correctly, including two cuvees from the local vineyard, Breaky Bottom, and other highly respectable offerings like Sugrue. Better still most were also available already chilled.

Very nice. In the main the staff a helpful in assisting with the wine choice. Food is good serving stall could do better. The containers for the olive oil and balsamic vinegar need to be pouring type vessels not everyone wants to dip into a shared bowel.

Lewes has always cried out for a decent wine bar and over the years many have come and gone. Symposium sprung up from the ashes of Lewes Spice back in 2011 and has gone from strength to strength. Rob and Henry and the team are always on hand to advise and as well as a great selection of bottles there is always a good choice of red, white, rose and fizz by the glass. The bread and olives and the mixed food platters complement the wine nicely and regular tasting events are held. Craft beers from Burning Sky and Gun Breweries as well as local gins also feature. On hot days the air conditioning is welcome and I recommend trying the plum infused sake along with the home made chocolate brownies

Lovely wine bar with choice of cold platters to share alongside extensive choice of wines. No children allowed after early evening. Great place to come to try something new and then take a bottle or two home with you.

A great, small local businesss that really knows it's grapes. Licensed for off-sales as well. But if you have to time, take a table in the window with a glass of wine and watch the world pass by. Food is restricted to various platters (Meat, vegetarian available) but are great to share. And their chocolate brownies are a special treat.Don't overlook their great selection of spirits and some of the best local "Craft beer" producers around.

I live up the road from Symposium and it is a great wine merchant & drinking establishment. They have a great selection of wines from lesser known producers. The quality is always good, right from their £7 bottles up to the £25 bottles that i have bought - my budget doesn't go above that.They are always happy to advise and the knowledge of their wines is excellent. They are also very generous with tastings and have 4-5 bottles on the go at one time, so there is often something new to try.
