Lovely staff and a nice menu. The place wasn't busy and we were served very quickly. Slight smell of damp which was slightly off putting.

Everything one would expect for an Easter Sunday family meal was excellent. Everything that matters was 10/10. The toilets could do with a good spruce up but were generally clean. The outside area is generally very nice. They even had Easter eggs for the kids at the entrance which was thoughtful and a nice touch. The whole experience I would give 9.5/10 and definitely will be returning. Highly recommended.

My husband and I have been going to this lovely pub every week for the past couple of months and have thoroughly enjoyed everything we have ordered in these very pleasant surroundings and have been made to feel very welcome by all the staff. Highly recommended.

Lovely pub, got a really welcoming feel about it. Staff couldn't do enough for me & my wife. The starter bar snacks were excellent. Will be going again.

Third visit in less than two years with all being disappointing and use to be a favourite place for my Family to visit three years back.1st poor visit August 2020 and salad dressing tasted of Hand gel. Staff visit table many times till there is an issues and then stays well clear once we raised the issue. Complaint dealt with badly.2nd visit in July 2021 poor. Only offered granary bread which is useless for those who suffer Chrome's Disease and wasn't able to offer white bread or roll. Service was poor. 3rd visit April 23rd and menus given and was expected to decide within a minute then came back 2 minutes before I asked for a few minutes to decide....no one came for another 15 minutes and then we made our choices. Granary roll was still on the menu and yet again no white option however as offered a ciabatta that came out not toasted which made it very dry. My Dad's meal got forgotten which was Chicken Breast and pesto and they tried there best to get this out quickly with in 10 minutes....It had been microwaved cooked! So dry and brown on the outside! New owners in the summer so please use this feedback to start of well. Please note photo was 4 years ago when the food looked good and tasted nice.

Had a lovely meal this evening, the food was excellent, I had the fish and chips (have to say the fish was as good as I've had anywhere!) And my wife had the pork belly(also delicious 👍). The staff were lovely, really friendly, efficient and attentive without being over bearing .All in all a great experience of which we both highly recommend, we'll be back soon for sure... Give the Abergavenny a try you won't regret it 👍

If you are doing the South Downs Way and ending a stretch in Rodmell I can highly recommend this pub as a welcoming rest point for a pint.. Excellent Harvey's bitter. They also do food but I didn't eat so can't comment. Staff very helpful and friendly

Lovely country pub & 100% worth a visit. We visited after a hike along the River Ouse & were treated to some smashing pub food & nice beer selection. The real fire was an added benefit. Would recommend

Stopped here with our dog for food and drinks on our way back from camping. The staff were very welcoming and polite. I tried a pint of Guinness & a Dark Star, both of which were good.To eat, I had the Rump Steak with Skinny Fries with salad and peppercorn sauce and it was all excellent. The steak was maybe a little chewy but had a fantastic flavour and I enjoyed it very much.

We walked over to the Abergavenny arms on a stunning summers day from Saltdean. The pub garden is really pretty. It was quiet as it was a Friday. We had a ploughman’s and a falafel and beetroot salad. Both were really nice. They had an issue with the Harvey’s which was coming out cloudy so I went for a Peroni which was refreshing. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. Great little pub which I’m so glad survived and reopened after the lockdowns.
