Always friendly service. Dogs welcome. Food is great - fish & chips highly recommend. Decent size beer garden

The food at The Dorset is so good! I had the Southern fried chicken burger and I can honestly say it's the best burger I've ever had!! Will definitely be returning.

Five stars for exceptional Harvey’s Old and Best bitter served by the wonderful landlord and landlady Lee & Melissa. I’ll be back with all my friends very soon. Love the Dorset the number one pub in Lewes! ❤️🍺😎👍😁

Very good value, room was small but okay for one person. Breakfast was continental but there was a good selection. Great location for the centre of lewes. Parking isn't free but just across the road and good value

Delicious lunch with best vegan sausages ever. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.

Was recommended this place by another pub that didn't have a kitchen, definitely worth listening to them as the Sunday lunch was excellent.Quite an old building (1600's if I recall correctly) so good for people that like history and character with their pubs.Had the lamb shank roast which was one of the largest pieces of meat I've had on a roast in a very long time. The meat fell right off the bone too. The vegetables and gravy that came with it was delicious. Apparently the gravy is made with a leak stock. All in all very good portion size for what you pay for it.

Booked online through Booking.com.We had a double room number 6, for one night and it comes with complementary continental brekkie. The room had a good size double and a sofa bed. The sofa was comfy and we watched the England game last night. The coffee maker was a Lavazza pod machine and there was a kettle. The bathroom had a bath with shower. There was lashings of hot water and the water pressure excellent. There was a little noise from downstairs bar but it did not bother us.Parking is across from the Dorset free from 5 pm to 9 am. We arrived at 3 pm and it cosy £1.40 to cover the two hours. We were catching a ferry so missed breakfast, so given a plate each to take to our room after dinner with bananas, apples, satsumas, croissants, muffins and pain au chocolates. We even got a yoghurt. We wandered around Lewes and got back to the pub to have dinner. We had Cumberland sausages, mash, greens and gravy and tagliatelle bolognaise. Both good portions and really tasty. We sampled the local ale and also had other drinks. With the bed, breakfast, dinner and bar drinks, the whole thing came to around £120. Now that is value, and top that with great service we can only recommend The Dorset!.

What a lovely pub, with very nice and friendly staff. My room was clean and had everything I needed. I slept really well. In the evening you can hear the noise from the pub below, but that's expected if you stay above a pub. There was a continental breakfast advertised, there was a lot to indulge in, although it's a little bit of a shame that all of it was sweet. However I would definitely stay in this place again.

Stayed at The Dorset for 3 nights in Sept 21. Our room was a small double as advertised. Room was clean and front facing. The curtains were good at keeping out the light and we had a fan in the room. We found the matress too thin, firm and uncomfortable, and the pillows, though 2 each were too flat/soft. I'm sure we could have got 2 more from staff had we asked. Our big problem with the room was the shower in that it just wouldn't drain. We couldn't have the water on for more than a few seconds without flooding the floor. Another issue was the music. On a Monday night it kept us awake and went off at 11pm. It didn't seem that loud when we were in the bar but with the speakers next to the ceiling it was loud in the room. We also only had 1 loo roll which was like tracing paper. I noticed the quality of loo roll was much softer in the gents in the bar. Our toilet seat was loose too. Breakfast was great, couldn't knock the continental breakfast selection on offer. More often than not, service was good but the first time we tried to order a beer we were told it was table service and the girl was on her phone for ages so we ordered at the bar. Parking was fine thanks to the neighbouring carpark charging £4 per day. It did get full during the day though. You're probably getting what you pay for with The Dorset but we can't say we had a great stay.

Stayed here for a week whilst visiting family and walking the downs. Well located with easy parking opposite via the Ringo app. Comfy and spacious room with good sized en-suite, all super clean. The complementary continental breakfasts were spot on, with a large and abundant choice on offer. Lovely, friendly and welcoming pub with great beer and brilliant service. The staff here are something else, fast, friendly, efficient and nothing is too much trouble, and that’s all of them, they do the Dorset proud!
