Terrific cafe. Really good selection of food to eat in or takeaway. Amazing quiche with walnuts. 😋

I would’ve emailed to say about this but I can’t see an email address on the website so have had to leave a review. I came with my 7 month old baby and was really disappointed to see what despite the toilet being huge there was no changing table. It’s not really acceptable to not have any provision for baby changing, it’s as important as disabled access in my opinion. I had to change my baby on the window ledge as he doesn’t like to be changed on the floor but he got upset as it was so hard. I think it’s a real shame that mothers and babies are often not thought about even though they are a big part and an important part of society, it’s hard enough being a new parent without going to a cafe and finding there’s nowhere to change your baby.

Back again for a friends birthday present. Once again, lovely food and friendly service. I love The Green Welly. Such a warm, friendly, welcome each time I have been (three times). All the staff are lovely. The food is delicious, freshly prepared/cooked on site. My lunch, the salmon and dill quiche was absolutely scrumptious, very tasty and oh!, melt in your mouth pastry. My friend also raved about her chilli, prawn and mayonnaise sandwiches, parcelled up very rustically. The courtyard is a delightful setting to enjoy too. All in all, a very enjoyable and reasonably priced, place to eat.Thank you Sue and the team! :)

Amazing staff/great food/vegan & gluten free options; perfect for me! Lovely ambience & very clean. Had very good first time experience and shall return 😊

I enjoyed our visit to the green welly today. I did find the coffee a tad bitter but maybe I was just unlucky. The spinach frittata was light and lovely.

Food was very nice but staff just going through the motions and not friendly, we didn't actually feel welcome. No indication how to order whether we pick up our own menus etc. At one point we were sat there and two old ladies came in up some steep steps into the garden then were told to order at the counter which is back where they'd just come from. That's not service of any kind, I could have understood if it was busy but it wasn't at all. Also, coffee particularly bitter.

Lovely lunch with old friends. Booked a table, but still a bit of confusion as where we were sitting!! The food was really lovely but the ordering system is a bit of a nightmare!! We queued for a while (even though we booked) while takeaway orders were sorted. And randomly, older, regular (?) people seemed to be able to jump the queue to pay!!!????.... Would definitely give the green welly another try, but if it was as chaotic then probably never bother again.

Lovely trendy cafe in the heart of Ditchling, it looks small but once inside its open plan makes it roomy, and it also has a walled courtyard garden with more seating. Serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea its a great place to meet friends or drop in for a quick coffee.
