Sadly there were lots of new staff who were uncertain what the menu was, what drinks were available and how to serve smoothly. Food, when it arrived, was good. Service was very slow and some of the prices were unreasonable, such as a very simple plate of a few slices of bread and some olives for £8. Shame as it could be so much better.

Have been frequenting this pub for many years. Has many great selling points, location etc however the quality of which the cask ales are kept is greatly lacking of late. Harvey’s is always served a great amount of sediment, and I am not convinced the lines are cleaned on a regular basis. It is a great shame as all other facets of the pub seem to have a good attention to detail from the owners apart from this.

So much potential and the outdoor play area is amazing, but the food and service very underwhelming.Zero vegan options on arrival and when I asked if there was something they could provide (I am not fussy vegan!) I was offered lettuce, tomatoes and olives - very different to the vegan options displayed on the website. Surely a good chef (even a basic one) can quickly put something vegan together 🤔. No real apologies from the staff about the lack of food which was pretty shocking. It’s 2022 and to offer no options for vegans is not satisfactory.Sadly the service wasn’t great and certainly below average compared to other pubs in the area. Hugely disappointing as we were really looking forward to our visit.

I've been coming here for many years thanks to the great roads and a passion for motorcycles. There's a huge raised drinking area behind the pub which is perfect for catching late afternoon sunshine / watching the sun go down. The food is great, the service is great, there's plenty of variety in the indoor and outdoor seating, even mini golf! However, writing this in Apr-22, I won't be rushing back as the road surface has vanished completely in places between Ditchling and Plumpton, so it's far too dangerous. If anyone ever has to brake heavily in the rain, they'll leave the road and hit something hard and unyielding.

Staff weren’t particularly friendly - our food arrived before our drinks and when we chased up our drink order the waitress wasn’t exactly convivial. Food arrived too quick - I mean it wasn’t freshly cooked. Roast potatoes were tough, soggy Yorkshire pudding, one piece of broccoli and some hard red cabbage. Weak gravy and 3 pieces of grey meat - all for £16 each! Kids meals marginally better and drinks fine. Lovely garden and ample parking. If you’re going to serve roasts at least make a better effort for that price. So disappointed as I’ve wanted to try this pub for a while.

We had Saturday lunch here last week. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The good was really nice. Super chips! The only downfall was a very smokey fire. In the end we moved outside (into the glorious sunshine) as it was unpleasant.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. My girlfriend and I were here for lunch, and although the food was good and I was fully satisfied with my ciabatta with sausage with chips and a little salad to the side, the portion size of my girlfriend's vegan buffalo wings was a bit small for its price. That costed a star in this review, but other than that, this place is definitely recommended.

Really disappointing.Ample pub parkingI might have sat outside - on the patio or under the Covid Marquee but too popular with smokers and chilly.Starter: Chicken Liver pâtée.A dollop of onion marmalade, chicken liver in a mini Kilmer jar, a fist of salad and soft mini toasts - it feels as if everything came out of a tin or jar rather than made today. The soft toast was replaced with thinner slices of the same - but that Marmite hit of a chicken liver pâté was missing and the green leaves meaningless - could have come form Aldi.Dog treats came for our dog - even these were soft. I rather think the problem is the damp setting of the pub.The service was pleasant and welcoming but slow - from the start waiting to be noticed despite few customers in.Atmosphere a bit gastro pub, the music more Plumpton College than Sussex Pub. When this was turned off all we got was the distant rumble of the chef/plongeurs rap. Tip: isolate the kitchen from the ‘restaurant’ unless the chef and their team are proud of what they do and the customers they serve.Toffee Pudding - Dull. The cake warmed up, the ice-cream from a cash and carry Tupperware - the sauce from a bottle, the garnish unnecessary.Sounds of disgruntled staff in the kitchen didn’t help.If I were to pay what the meal was worth then it would be 50% of the charge.Until they get in a new chef this will be my last visit. All too perfunctory. And how could an Espresso be cold?
