The Rainbow Inn in Lewes

Happened across The Rainbow on the way home from an afternoon down the coast and we're glad we did. The staff were friendly and attentive and the carvery was delicious. Won't hesitate to drop in again.

We went here and had the mid week carvery and was not disappointed. Generous servings of meat and all cooked to perfection. The dessert was just as delicious and also well proportioned. The gentleman that served us and all the staff were super friendly.

We had a lovely carvery hear today. Really nice landlady and staff. The roast beef was delicious and a fab selection of veggies. We shall definitely be going back

First time we have been here - went for a carvery and will definitely be going back again! Lovely good and really friendly and welcoming.

Overall experience ok! The carvery was alright, the vegan meal ordered, beetroot burger was very bland and dry didn’t have any of the extras just a burger in a bun for £15 too expensive for what it was!A young team who were obviously busy, a young man served us who was very polite and attentive but the other staff obviously under pressure struggled to be polite and smile not the greatest customer service experience!Very unorganised behind the food counter, they need more room, all food trays on top of each other, looked a mess! Utensils extremely hot to touch.It could be so much better!

Fairly average food and only one real ale available. Poor service at the start and long wait to get going, but the service did pick up a bit. The staff were friendly but as is often the case it could be the kitchen that couldn't cope. One member of staff needs more training for sure. The good ones were good but could not carry the day. Won't hurry back.

A lunch with family in November. A quiet day being a midweek visit but a warm welcome from the staff and the food is simply excellent with ample portion sizes. A honest, no nonsense dog friendly country pub and carvery with a real fire.A great little find.

Perfectly OK experience. The food was adequate, although slow, taking almost 2 hours for main course and dessert. Tables outside were well spaced but one member of staff was not wearing a mask which was a concern. Staff were friendly. Hoping thigs will speed up here as everyone gets used to dealing with a new normal.

A last minute booking for 4 people, A very warm welcome by owner & hostess with the mostest, quite quite due to no shows & cancellatiins which is such a shame if your trying to run a business!! Food was very good, plates could have been warmer but we all had fush, either cod in batter of cod with a pea puree glaze, both were excellent. There could have been a little more vegetables. Followed by sticky toffee pudding, sorbet, chocolate cake & ice-cream shared out I hasten to add. Will visit again.

A real hidden treasure.Fed up with the chain carveries with their measly portions of meat and veg stewed to a mush, we were looking for something a bit better.This place is in a different league. Well worth the drive and having to have a soft drink!The three meats were perfect - and really decent portions. Plus, the choice of veg was good. Small containers regularly refilled meant they weren't over-stewed. The roast potatoes were to die for!The venue is cosy, the staff friendly. The only reason I have marked the place down is the service was slow. It was perhaps a bit too slow at the start, but after we had finished, we felt we had been forgotten, with a ridiculously long wait before being asked if we wanted dessert.To put this meal in perspective, the cost per person was pretty much the same as our recent visit to a Harvester. There was no comparison - this was far superior!
