Lovely meal in a characterful pub. Very busy so booking is advised. Set in the heart of the village, a great place to stop when walking in the area.

Lovely pub set in the Sussex countryside not far from Lewes and Firle Place. Very popular and if you want to have lunch there booking ahead is pretty much essential. Lovely interior. The food is good and well-priced and the service is also good. There’s a medium sized ‘garden’ for warmer weather.

Just returned from 2 nights - have to say it was spot on. The staff were fantastic from start to finish - service fantastic and despite being busy both nights food was served promptly. And the food - breakfast and both nights was superb - some of the nicest we have eaten for a long time. Well done!

A real proper pub. Went there on Boxing Day for lunch. The beer is well kept, something fewer pubs know about these days. So, an excellent pint or two of Harveys. The service was also excellent, friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was very good, although on this occasion I'd say the vegetarian options were a little limited.A superb pub, highly recommended. Also some lovely walks around here.

Very much enjoyed our family lunch at this cosy pub after a bank holiday walk. Between us we had the mussels, beef bourgignon and confit duck leg. All delicious. Service was friendly and efficient even though by the time we left there were crowds of people clustered outside waiting to go in. So glad we had booked. The local beer was also good.

Beautiful pub in an idyllic location. Just stopped to warm up in front of the open fire with a cup of tea. Didn't eat so can't comment on food but it's a lovely place with friendly staff 😊

What a lovely little pub. Off the beaten track, but still busy. A few draft beers on offer and a surprisingly extensive range of spirits as well. The food is very good and a refreshing change from the usual bland offerings one would be subjected to at a chain pub.

Nice building, friendly staff. Two of us had burgers, plain good quality burger and chips at £14, sadly the buns were both old, and a bit much to ask an additional £1 for cheese and £1 for bacon...Risotto had sold out at 13:45, odd given ingredients..Men's toilets were noticeably dirty.

Spent two nights here for our anniversary. What can I say, firstly the rooms are a delight. Beautifully decorated, clean and well stocked with everything you require. We were in the Birdcage room which was quiet and had beautiful views. There are low beams so if you are tall then a bit of ducking is required. We ate in the restaurant on the first evening. I had the whole Plaice and my wife the Sea bass fillet. Both were cooked to perfection and the rest of the mean complemented the fish. Breakfast is included and has a good choice. This too is fresh local produce and well cooked. The service was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Ample parking in the car park and the locals are very friendly. We will definitely go back again.
