George & Dragon in Maidstone

Met up with an old friend for a good catch up and thought we would try The George and Dragon. Mistake, I had lasagne with side salad and garlic bread, the lasagne was dreadful, all stodgy with no sauce and hardly any meat. My friend had fish and chips, didn't look brilliant when it come out but she said the fish was good but the chips only ok. Dessert, mine was nice but my friend had Eton mess, never seen one quite like it, loads of squirty cream on top with ice cream underneath. They did say that I could have my dessert free of charge but when we asked for a detailed bill we never got it, we had a rough count up and don't think we were charged. Certainly won't be going again. I don't like leaving bad reviews but this had to be done.

popped in with mum and dad very disappointed.landlord and lady very polite and helpful but place very quiet only ones in for lunch.Mum needed to go to the toilet and needed help getting there, when you walked in you saw a lady sitting on toilet as there was no door but other toilet had door which mum used, but for a 85 year old and seeing someone on toilet wasn't nice for her really shocked her.took her back to table ordered good, her fish was oily and chips over cooked, my scampi ok but chips over cooked and dad's lamb shank was ok but some veg under cooked. won't visit again.

On way home after Christmas shopping in Dartford Sunday 19/12/21 and decided to stop for lunch just happen there was parking so stopped and went in George and Dragon Headcorn as was offering roast dinner. First impression was empty on Sunday! however as it was just gone 2pm thought was the reason my husband had roast beef and I explained I was a vegetarian no problem was told nut roast was available fantastic I'll have that is there any cauliflower cheese yes I was told didn't get better I thought. Very quickly it came out looked like scrapings from other plates Yorkshire burnt, veg dried up and cauliflower cheese cold and a very strange colour thank goodness only a little bit of it I thought started to eat and after a few mouthfuls a large lump of sausage meat was in my mouth. In shock I spat it out. How disgusting being that I had told them I was a vegetarian and there was hardly anyone else in so not busy. No excuse. I went to the bar to explain what had happened to be told to hang on a minute. When he came back he said he had asked her why she had put it on there and she said she didn't know said he would refund or get me new. I said I felt sick as have been a vegetarian for 36 years. I guess the stuffing had been made with pork added although my husband's had none! The dinner quite honestly looked like it was left overs! I went to counter to say we were leaving and he was going to let me off the drinks and my dinner I reminded him that I couldn't eat mine due to the pig fat and my husband only had tap water was shocked when he was going to charge £14:99 for my husband's food being that it was burnt and cold.reluctantly he said he wouldn't charge which was only right. I have been sick since and warn anyone who is vegetarian or has any allergies or those who have any taste never go there to eat!!

Just had a wonderful meal at George and Dragon Headcorn. Great setting and wonderful atmosphere. Delicious meals of fish and chips and scrumptious beef burger and chips. Well worth a visit if you are in the area! Thank you Michael and Daisy!

Really friendly atmosphere in this pub. Food really good with excellent portions. Owner and staff very attentive to the customers wishes and nobody seemed to be waiting for any length of time. Family orientated and dog friendly . Sunday roast is excellent and the nut roast is the best I have tasted . Morretti on draught what more can you ask for !

The George and Dragon is a lovely pub and the outside beer garden a pleasant setting. However, the food is always somewhat average for the price I find. Small bites tend to be better than main courses. My mackerel pate was good but arguably not difficult to make. My tomato and goats cheese quiche was soft as it had been reheated in a microwave not an oven I would guess- quiche should have a firm but crumbly crust and the contents firm but soft. The whole thing was soggy and not very flavoursome considering the ingredients. If not using an oven, it would be better really to serve quiche cold. Green salad was OK, but lacking vinaigrette though that is perhaps a Covid restriction. Tomatoes not very flavoursome and rather hard. The food should all be about 70% of the current price, as at the moment it feels very overpriced. As a pub of course it is a lovely pub. Buy as people in the village have been saying for years it is a pity about the quality of the menu. Sunday lunch is reliable, of course, as it has been cooked fresh.

I have never experienced such a badly run pub as this one! With a really bad attitude from the owner, I have given an honest review on TripAdvisor from my visit yesterday. What food establishment serves food without basics such as cutlery & wonders why the customer complains because the food has gone cold! Terrible experience from start to finish! A booking was made, so it wasn't as if they weren't expecting us! Avoid if you expect any service from this establishment especially as it's supposed to be table service atm after lockdown.

Nice food. Friendly atmosphere. Ate out the back. This was picked after reading reviews. Surroundings pleasant albeit busy. Lots of up cycled bits and pieces as the pictures show. Plenty if room out the back and enclosed for kids. Parking available but not many spaces. 2 hour parking on main street and pay and display local. Clean. Staff friendly. I think it's a mix of drinkers and diners as far as I could tell. Good menu. Kids menu. Kids colouring. Toilet used near rear exit... small... hoping there's another for busy times. Tables internally. Decor busy and friendly and also odd...but in a good way. Good food. Gammon had real pineapple. Don't often get that. Not home made chips. That would have made it perfect! I would go back bit would have preferred not to fight to find parking.

Good little pub with great food. A nice selection of food, with daily specials and theme evenings (roast on a Sunday etc). Has a separate light bites menu for those wanting a lighter meal. Good selection of soft drinks as well as hot drinks and alcohol. A very wide variety of gin available too. Good atmosphere, but isn’t as ‘quaint English pub’ as I would have liked. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Came in for a pint with some family. Cosy atmosphere, with log fire. Staff were friendly and drinks were an okay price. Can’t comment on food as I didn’t have anything. Couple of points of criticism, the place feel cluttered, every part of every wall has a picture or ornament, every shelf cover with things, stuff hanging from the ceiling and none of it seems to have a particular theme and causes the layout to be a little chaotic. Also there is chalk boards every where, all around the outside, and loads inside. Which brings me on to the second point of criticism, they not only have a bar, they serve food, including afternoon tea, breakfasts coffees (like a cafe), they also for some reason have a cheese counter type thing that is filled with pickles and chutneys, it might be just me but who goes to a pub and buys some chutney. Bizarre! Also there is a tea rooms next door and a deli just up the street and it feels like they are trying to compete yet they can’t as they are a pub. They should focus on being a great pub!td;lr: Had a quick pint, was okay, feels cluttered, and like they are trying to do more than be a pub/restaurant and compete with other local businesses.
