We had a great stay here, lovely hotel and a big shoutout to coleen who was very helpful and friendly, we originally booked one day but ended up staying 3 days as we loved it there so much! Definitely will be coming back in the future. Purely coming back for coleens banter!

A bit dated here but near to town and plenty of parking and easy access to the river for quite pleasant walks into town

Wonderful hotel with superb breakfasts and dinners and beautiful cosy rooms. I also worked here as a student and I enjoyed this very much. A top notch family run hotel the like of which you do not find often these days.

I've had a room where the heath worked for an hour or so, the bathroom was dirty, it was hair almost everywhere.I'm giving 3* because the staff was very nice

IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY: Hotels.com issue a warning (see screenshot) and now you have blocked me from making any further comments, so I am having to edit this review to make people aware of the way you operate. You can block me all you like but the truth is obvious. Hotels.com have also been imformed about this. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I tried to book a room here through hotels.com with the booking as pay at the property. A very rude man then calls from the hotel demanding my card and billing details to take a 50% payment. I wasn't comfortable giving my details to a random stranger, so he got angry and cancelled the booking through hotels.com. I also found out they demand a £100 when you arrive for some strange reason. As I couldn't leave a review on hotels.com because they cancelled my booking (thank god), I am leaving the review here as a warning to anyone considering using this place.

I dont mind a retro Hotel, I believe it gives it a little character. I'm just not a fan of smelling retro. The room was spacious and there was wardrobe space with a tea point. There is parking at the rear which is good, we were planning on having breakfast in the morning but as we walked from the car park to the reception we has a glance into the kitchen and we quickly changed our minds!!The bathrooms need an update and ours was in a terrible state. The biggest issue for me was the small double bed. My wife and I are average height and weight and really struggled to get comfortable! The staff need to monitor guests smoking within the hotel better too.I gave this review 2 stars instead of 1 because the bar staff were fantastic, friendly and professional! Apart from House keeping who disturbed us at 9am knocking on the door saying "House keeping" not cool House keeper! One last thing, we spent the evening in the lounge which was ok however needed a deep clean and if they just ran the nets in the wash the room would probably smell better. The whole hotel just needs a spring clean and an update in the bathroom and bed department to give this retro Hotel a well needed boost!Would I stay again probably no for what the price is for one night its just not worth it Premier Inn would be better value and cleaner.

Had a thoroughly enjoyable experience, celebrating a friends birthday! Very friendly staff with great food. Basic but comfortable rooms!

Great hotel and great staff. Paid £10 for a late check out not too bad. We weren't in main hotel but across in their second building. Really decent sized room. I had only 3 little issues.. the power for charging my phone wasn't very strong. Took a good while to charge. The soap dispenser button kept jamming. In the end I used my shower gel to wash my hands. The bathroom was rather small.. Minor but annoying.. overall though was really good. Clean room, comfy bed and the bar was open all night!!

Our first stay, 3 nights at the hotel. Basic room but clean and comfortable and fine for a 3 star hotel. Our room was at the front of the hotel but no problems from street noise. Breakfast options included fresh fruit. Lovely garden seating at the back. We had dinner at the hotel on each of the nights. Lovely food and the burger was particularly enjoyable. Best of all were the staff who were all friendly and helpful. Highly recommended and if we get tickets to Ramblin' Man next year, we will be back.
