Thai Orchid in Maidstone

We were looking for somewhere to eat after having just arrived in Maidstone. The staff were all friendly. The food was delicious - none of us had eaten Thai food before but the flavours were fantastic. Definitely recommended!

Visited with an associate on the afternoon of easter monday. We ordered tea and scones and two savoury snacks, namely vegetarian springrolls (had before and delicious) and chicken wings. We went to sit outside overlooking the river.After the tea arrived, the young barmaid/waitress arrived with sesame prawn toast, which we hadn’t ordered (I cannot eat prawns). She changed it for the springrolls (rather bland this time). The chicken wings took some time to come. When they arrived, my associate bit into his and blood came out (though they appeared brown exteriorly). I took them back into the young Lady barmaid/waitress who apologised and promised to bring replacements.When the replacements arrived, they too, were brown exteriorly but raw (with blood) as we’d cautiously cut into them to check.Upon taking them back a second time, the young Lady was again apologetic and offered something else but we really wanted wings and I just, politely asked her to have them cooked further until ready. At this point, a young blond man who’d been at the bar (with a male associate) chatting to the young Lady; as in friendship, said to me, “if you think you can do better, why not go cook them yourself?” I’d asked him to please mind his own business, to which he stood up to me and said “what YOU going to do about it?”My reply was “As I’m anti violence; nothing” and I went outside and mentioned it to my associate who said he’d prefer to leave and suggested my writing this review. We spoke to the barmaid/waitress and she kindly refunded me the tea and wings and we left. I returned a day or so later, to inform the owner but she was out but a Lady manager said she’d inform her; I left my card for a call and possible explanation before writing this but nothing and so have pressed ahead with this review.The incident left us (associate and self) with a very dim view of the establishment, sadly.

Always good food and nice cocktails too. Eating in is a great experience. I've ordered for pick up and that was ready very quickly. Thoroughly recommend if looking for a Thai in Maidstone

First time here and it was fantastic, food excellent, staff friendly and it was a clean and tidy restaurant, lovely setting looking over the river and even had a cocktail with my name on it. Highly recommended and I will return.

Nice place, very tasty, but waiting time is realy too long, the waitress mistook our order twice, they avoided contact, need to improve the service. The Sunday menu - if you order second time the same dish, you get only half portion. 3 stars just for amazing food, but anyway we didnt get prawn tempura as you can see on the first picture.

Wonderful place, great food beautiful view of river, friendly staff. Would give 5 stars, but there is only one ladies toilet (there is a disabled one too?) A lot of times there's been no toilet roll! But we'll still visit often as we love it there so much

This is hands down the best Thai meal I have eaten all year, well worth the price, great staff that bent over backwards to accommodate us, even sending someone out for pouring cream for a Irish coffee!Great views, great food, well priced.

On the beautiful Maidstone Town Centre setting beholds the Thai Orchid Restaurant. It is a wonder in itself, with design queues from Thai gardens, cruise ships and cocktail bars. It’s a large space, the ground floor caters the drinkers and the 1st floor caters for the diners. The diner’s window-side view is beautiful, calm and relaxing. There’s even a cozy little outdoor area for those summer heat wave days.The staff are hospitable and ensure the relaxed feeling extends further. Food and service is fast, best of all it’s a excellent value. Their 3 course weekly set menu will set you back less than £20.

Good food but have eaten better for a cheaper price.Ordered two starters, three main meals, three alcoholic drinks and a bottle of water.Bill came to £100.In comparison, 6 of went to a Nepalese restaurant and had starters, mains and alcohol, and the bill came to £100. The food was better too.The customer service at Thai Orchid is excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful.The view from upstairs is great, if you get a window seat.I guess this is what you pay for.
