Stayed 2 nights, took our dog with us whose 13. Rooms were lovely, bed very comfortable. Hairdryer and ironing board, kettle etc. Also a dog towel and blanket for her. Meals were up some stairs in the main pub, I did have to carry our dog up, but she could get down fine. Lovely food, staff were superb, really attentive, friendly and made a fuss of our dog. If you have trouble walking with hills, some of the accommodation is on quite steep hill but it's not a long hill, but I'm sure discussing this at time of booking should resolve with accommodation closer to main pub. Will definitely use again for our show weekends whether with or without our dog.

Food was absolutely ace as always, has been excellent for the last 20 years and that hasn't slipped. Love the dog loft too, great to have a dining area you can bring the hound in!

THE place to go for a Sunday roast. Epic food, fresh and tasty. Just glorious on all fronts. Love rustic pub and restaurant area, only downside is parking can be a bit tricky some times. Can’t mark them down for this as it’s only tricky because it’s popular!

The service was very slow: 45 from order to food arriving but staff were friendly. I wish I could say the same about the owner; Rather dismissive, unhelpful, and borderline rude... and not just to us but to staff and guests that are perhaps not his 'regular mates'. We saw him rudely dismiss a Dutch family who were also staying at the lnn and were politely asking why no tables all night for guests staying at the hotel despite booking. The food is okay but nothing special. The accommodation is basic and clean. Won't be in rush to come back...

What a lovely place. We stayed over in one of the 34 chalet rooms they have on site. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. This was an evening out with friends and a stop over. The pub was busy throughout the afternoon but we found a table and enjoyed a few pre dinner drinks. The table was for 7pm and we were allowed to keep it as we were staying.Dinner was absolutely lovely and nicely priced.Service was excellent and it was refreshing to be attended to, but not intruded upon.We absolutely recommend that you try this dark horse of an eatery.10/10

Food was ok nothing special for the price. Most staff looked like they didn’t want to be there and very off and rude at times. There was a couple of young girls that were lovely and pleasant. Unfortunately wouldn’t come again even though the pudding was so nice

Lovely food. Engaging staff. We were upstairs in the restaurant where dogs are allowed. The service was a little slow and when asked about some of the food on the menu the staff were unsure.Would go back there again though for the delicious food.

Very clean tidy stay with polite and friendly staff. Pub is very vintage but with fresh diverse menu. Very enjoyable stay and evening meal. Great for weekend stay away from city

Never fails to be lovely over the years. We didn't eat because the restaurant was busy but the smell of food was mouth watering. I couldnt offer 5 stars on the day purely because out of 2 ladies toilets, only 1 was working and wasn't told of any others in the pub. You should always reserve a table here as it's a very very popular restaurant, Inn and hotel and quite rightly too!

Food was very tasty, especially the sticky toffee pudding! We stayed in one of their small family rooms, they were very clean and well set up. They are very accommodating to dogs too, biscuits on the bar and blankets in the bedroom. The wait staff at dinner and breakfast were very friendly, but stayed professional. Would highly recommend the black horse for a relaxed drink, a place to dine and stay. We didn't follow any, but they provide maps for local walks, showing how far and how long they take. All in all, we are extremely impressed x
