The Lion of Kent in Maidstone

I wanted to love this place, but the service was terrible... over an hour wait between starters and mains, with no apology offered. The food was average at best. Really disappointed considering the number of good reviews.

Really warm and family environment. I ordered chicken liver and grilled octopus, the chicken liver is so flavorful and the texture is perfect. The octopus is cooked perfectly, I think it could use a little bit more flavor, but it is still much better than a lot of other places and with better price. I will be back and try more of their dishes!

This place has amazing food. The service was on point even kindly suggesting bringing my 4 year old child's food out with the starters (we plain forgot). I had read the reviews before going here and thank Lynn Boulding for pictures and menu titles. The best of the best

The food was amazing. I will be going through their seafood menu in the future. Pulpo (octapus) delights perfectly cooked, fish correctly presented. The kids menu chicken was real, a parents choice. A serious pat yourselves on the head establishment.

Attended baby shower today and the food was the yummiest food I have tasted in Maidstone area. It taste so fresh, oil free, crispy, full of flavour and is full of superb collection of varieties. Staff was very courteous, happy, helpful and lively. Adrian is superb boss! Food was fantastic, the atmosphere and service was really top notch. Was down here working which is a shame because if I was local this place would definitely be on my favourite list. Had the Yeoman special which was just gorgeous

Delicious food along with excellent customer service makes this a great place to dine out.Mrs and I came here after dropping our daughter off at Brownies, just round the corner.I advised the waitress that we only had just over an hour, so need food rather quickly. They didn't disappoint. We had a starter, main and dessert, along with two alcoholic drinks and a sparkling water, all within the time we had. To top it off, the bill came to £86, which we felt was reasonable.The waitress even said that whatever we didn't finish, we could take home.We would definitely be visiting again.

First meal out and it was really great food was excellent especially the chicken livers and the sea Bream but if you don't like bones or can't deal with them have the sea bass as they are filleted. Staff was friendly and a good attitude would definitely go again

Popped in here for a spontaneous lunch with my Mum. The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a lovely meal. The food was good and the portions plentiful. Reasonably priced and we loved the decor inside. We went during the day so it was quite tranquil but I'm sure in the evening they are very busy. Highly recommend.
