The most amazing milkshakes. Try peanut butter and banana with malt. Amazing burgers and desserts too. Really good value and a nice diner environment.

My friend and I often go to Deans Diner both in Chatham Dockside and Hempstead Valley, and have always found the food to be good and reasonable and love the refillable drinks !! Staff attentive and they seem to be very good at recognising returning customers which is nice and good customer service. As I have worked with the public all my working life I am very aware of this. So as far as I am concerned "Well Done everyone at both Diners "

I pop in here from time to time to get a milkshake. They are great you can mix match ingredients and they are quite large. Feel like your getting your money's worth.

We went to the Chatham Deans Diner on the 2nd December 2015It was out 22nd wedding anniversary and we fancied staying local and something different from the usual Chinese or Indian restaurants. We arrived around 4.30pm for a early meal so we could wind down indoorsWe stood by the sign "Please wait here to be seated" and because it was early we were seated within 30 seconds so so far so good. It`s just a shame that a few other people who came in did not do the same and just came in and waited to be waited upon.We choose a seat away from the door as it was rather cold outside and the first thing i noticed was the seat behind us had a large split running down the length of it.Our seats that we chose were okay but were very worn and i sunk down as soon as i sat down.Being 6 foot 2 inches and around 14 stone in weight i found my seating position awkward as i was too low and i not very comfortable at all.I noticed that the chef at the front of the diner had a very bushy beard and was not impressed with the fact he was not wearing a beard snood to eliminate the risk of facial hair dropping from his beard.Another member came in to start his shift and he did not have a chip on his shoulder, he had a bloody great sack of spuds. Chef asked him to turn the outside heaters on and he basically told him it was managements job, chef then stated he would do it himself and yet again the employee said it was managements job and chef should not do it.The employee then proceeded to sweep up underneath the prep counter so therefore putting the food being prepared at risk of dust contamination. The waitress was very nice (Spanish) and prompt so that`s a plus side.I also noticed that employees were going through the kitchen area to the office at the rear but at no time did they wear disposable hats or anything to stop contamination of food. I found this very disturbing if i am honest. My wife and I settled for a burger combo and even then the front of house chef had to ask three times to clarify what we ordered, it was two burgers combos for heavens sake. When the food arrived it was not very well presented and looked like it had been chucked on the plate with the attitude "Ere, give em, that". The quality was okay but i would not say it was top quality.I opted for the refillable soft drink option, i had Coke and then when i asked for a refill i handed over my glass and received a glass of sprite in return. We endured a screaming kid but in all honesty that was reminder that we were actually in a restaurant and were not having a nightmare. The price was a shade over £26 for two burger combos and two refillable drinks (One coke and one coffee) which we both thought was okay as we normally spend £40-50 on a meal out so that was okay.Overall we were not impressed with this establishment and we certainly won`t be going back unless things improve ten fold. The problems lies in the fact it wants to be like ED`s which is a premium burger joint but ends up looking like a glorified McDonald`s.Would i recommend it? No i would notWould i go back? Not unless i heard that it had improvedOverall it did not spoil our wedding anniversary but we wish we stuck to what we know and went for Chinese or Indian as we feel it would have been much better all round.Sorry guys/girls but you have a long way to go to get our vote 2/5 tops
