Great service; fantastic parlour and really friendly staff. A lovely venue to just unwind and able to meet the needs of its patrons.

The food was absolutely delicious! The humble sardine transformed in an exquisite dish. I've never had sardines prepared like this. Sardines on toast with cheese melting over them. Wow!! Molto delizioso.

Great little gem not to be missed! We stumbled across this place when we came for the Christmas market, such a treat and a great selection of food! I had sardines on toast which is my favourite and it’s not often you find this on the menu at many cafes. The cake selection looked great but we were too full to have any, definitely will come back again!

Stopped for breakfast, Christmas Market weekend. Had the full English was very nice, not greasy, generous. Coffee nice too. Cakes looked amazing but didn't taste them, people were eating for breakfast. Staff helpful and smiley 😊

The afternoon tea was very nice, reasonably priced and in truth, too much for two people, even for us. Still, the scones and homemade jams were truly worthy.

Lovely place and lovely location. A good range of home-baked cakes (Victoria Sponge, cappuccino cake, bread pudding); great scones for the cream tea (no butter & it’s clotted cream, not whipped here); also mince meat tart. There is also a variety of the savouries too: corned beef hash; sardines on toast, or the Peggotty rarebit (cheese, ham & egg on toast). Pegotty also has a good range of teas and they’re all in tea bags, but even the Lapsang was strong! For a good basic brew, the Assam is great.it's located on the second floor of a 18th century building. The dining area seating is surrounded by portraits of Dickens characters in this old Norman town (Rochester). The building has been a pub, a jeweller’s, a dowser’s, a milliner’s and has Pegotty's on the first floor. Unfortunately it is not handicap accessible, no fault of the current establishment, but it does have toilets for the patrons of the establishment.Of special note and appreciation for me, the staff was super friendly and helpful and the service blazingly fast. The windows look out towards Rochester Castle, and as one of the staff from the Castle commented, it's a superb location to watch the world go by in a nice warm place while enjoying a bite and something to drink. The prices are very reasonable and inexpensive - Highly recommended!

We had the cream tea, and it was wonderful. The scones had just come out of the oven and were still warm. The staff are lovely, and you have a great view of the cathedral.
