I entered a competition related to Visit Kent & one of the prizes was a 3 course meal & overnight stay at The Ships & Trades for two people. On arrival we were given a warming welcome to the hotel by the receptionist & our room had a beautiful view of the marina, very modern & complimentary toiletries & drinks/snacks.Our meal was lovely & good portions & nice cocktails.Prior to leaving the hotel we enjoyed a very tasty breakfast & a very good choice on the menu.

Cool location just a short distance from main shopping center and high street but well worth it for nice views and relaxed location . Nice inside and great seating outside too ! Fish and chips was ok - nothing special all batter and no flavor and where was the fish !! But a good size portion ! Worth the stop …

The food was pretty good and service quick, but did not point out that specials exist - not aware of them until after somebody with us went to the toilet and saw it after we ordered, which isn't usual for a restaurant. The menu was a bit limited for the people I was with and not a great choice of alcoholic drinks. The location sells it, although a dismal day in March. We will go back in sunnier times.

We visited for the first time recently and thoroughly enjoyed our food. Staff were accommodating about substituting sides and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommend the chicken Kiev

One of the best steaks I've had in a very long time... in fact I'd go as far as saying the 2nd best steak I've ever had... and at a very reasonable price for the quantity / quality. The restaurant itself is also really nice, tables well spaced out and staff very friendly. They did keep having an issue with the lights for some reason though.

Really grateful for smaller portions of food on the adult menu. Kids menu is such bore with the same old food choices. Staff are friendly, the food was lovely. I had fish and chips, the fish was light and flaky, the batter was crisp, chips were fluffy inside and crisp on the out side. I gave half the portion away and still couldn't eat it all. Really fresh and tasty, the pub was busy, but the wait wasn't long.

Been here several times and always happy with the food/ drink and service. It's in a nice location with views of the dockyard. Easy free parking outside. Nice relaxed pub for food or just drinks.

I stayed here recently and my room was really cold. Really disappointed as I couldn't get to sleep. I've stayed here before and had a much better experience. The food. Weather its Brekie, lunch or dinner. The chefs know what they are doing. Quality food. Would have been 5 if a warmer room.

Good food, good drinks - they did mislay part of our meal order but quickly supplied free drinks & resolved issue quickly. Anyone can make a mistake: if is resolved quickly, efficiently and to the customer's satisfaction, that is good customer service.
