The Golden Lion - J D Wetherspoon in Medway

Above average Wetherspoons pub. Busy, but service swift and courteous. Food of above average quality and rapidly served. I'm not normally a fan of Wetherspoons, but this one is very good.

Seems odd giving 5 stars to a franchise chain pub/restaurant but certainly this particular venue has never disappointed with their food. Steak was very juicy and tasty and you really can't argue with the price.Bar - Great. Plenty of beer choiceStaff - Friendly and quickFood - Good and quickDecor - Slightly tired, but that's because the place is busy and atmosphere excitable.Only negative was needing to hunt around for condiments and a pepper mill or two wouldn't be a bad idea or sachets rather than the bland powdered white pepper.I'll be back and recommend for sure

Over crowed. Security had to be patrolling to ensure underage teenagers were not drinking alcohol.Noisy. Not a pleasant place to enjoy a mealStaff tried to be helpful but were overwhelmed by the size of the crowdFood tasted really, really awful.I will never return... I do not recommend

Terrible experience, slow service. Started drinking and then after the second drink was challenged for ID. Manager was rude and wanted to keep the money and refused to change it for something else. Although there was another manager that was more understanding.As soon as my partner walked out the front of staff were extremely rude and insulting about my partner and it left me very angry.

Visited on Sunday 13th February for breakfast. Breakfast came out before the drinks and the food was warm but not hot. Not the best wetherspoons I've visited.. There were many tables uncleared. Get some extra staff in to make it great.

Average spoons, great for affordability but can get super busy and slow service. Can’t fault the drink and food prices. Wasnt let in with shorts once which is a bummer as I was allowed in considerably nicer establishments

Never coming back on here again! Ordered our food sat down 10mins after we order our food the lady.comes out and.tells.me there's no pizza dough (surely you should know what when I ordered my food) so we changed our order. Food comes out (now we only got small picky dishes so nothing major) the halloumi fries were almost cold and was definitely not freshly cooked at all, our chicken peices were also almost cold (and they had no sweet chilli sause either so we was given some sause that looked like burger sause but definitely wasn't) there was about 10 nachos in the bowl with everything dumped on the side (I know it's a smaller portion because it was a picky menu but 10 nachos is taking the mick) and don't even get me started on the "loaded" chips! They wasn't cooked all the way through and there was about two bits of bacon on there and more cheese on it then there is on a dairy farm! The whole thing was just nasty! And the staff just seemed like they didn't want to be there at all, like we was inconveniencing them by being there. Never again!

Good value food. Had the chargrilled chicken and peri peri sauce. As good as Nandos. Ordered via app. Food didn't take too long but drinks came almost after we'd finished eating and lots of tables needed clearing.

We used this as a good place to meet up.it was perfect, as there were lots of tables, not too close together. Good coffee, and as much as you wanted.

If its busy avoid at all cost trying to get served is a nightmare. The tables do get cleared eventually but the tables are never wiped you can stick your glass to the table at no extra cost ,toilets always look they need a good clean as well
