Staff very nice and pleasant and good food too. Although not sure the camembert burger is a winner, but it was nice to try something different

Went for breakfast recently, I had eggs benedict, my husband had the cooked breakfast. However for the second time in as many weeks the food was not cooked well. The poached eggs in particular were undercooked, and the muffins needed to be toasted longer. Many items on my husbands plate were also stone cold. Staff pleasant enough but when we mentioned this to them, admittedly after eating it (they were too busy to come and check the food was OK after serving it due to it being busy and we were hungry) there was no offer to remedy this in any way.Hadn't booked but they were available to seat a table for 2 which was appreciated.I do like Cafe Rouge as a chain but there are other places opening in the town that offer better quality and varied options for breakfast at a similar price which will take away their custom. It's a shame after such an overhaul of the restaurant and brand they didn't take the time to review the breakfast menu. I would love to see more veggie/ vegan options and for the quality of these items to be improved as there are much better choices out there.

Thought we'd try the refurbed Rouge for coffee. This feels like a very unhappy restaurant. The service was slow and dismissive. The wait to pay the bill was over 20 mins despite the restaurant being very empty. When we went in to pay the bill as we were now in a hurry, we were told it would be brought out, only for the same staff member to continue serving drinks to another table whilst we waited anxiously as the clock ticked on.Pretty poor experience considering it was only for coffee, so won't risk returning. There are plenty of independants keen for the business in Haywards Heath.

I went to "Rouge" on Friday evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary of 33 years. We have been on many occasions over the last 5 years or so. Straight away on arrival we were shown to the smallest table which was shoe-horned in between 2 other tables despite having made a booking. We ordered some soft drinks @ £3.25 each and when they came they both had so much ice in them that after my wife removed them from her glass, what remind was less than half of the glass! We ordered the camembert to share which was passable but bland. Than there was a wait of nearly 50 minutes before the mains arrived which only came after I complained to the waitress. We started eating as we were so hungry only to find that the food not only had been overlooked but lukewarm! The chicken had been deep fried and not roasted as described in the menu. My mussels were drenched in a very heavy cream sauce which was very sickly. We didn't bother with desert as there was no point in throwing good money after bad. Will never set foot in this establishment again.

No longer Cafe Rouge but now Rouge, menu has gone a bit more upmarket, as have the prices but food was lovely. Jack Fruit Tagine was excellent. Staff also very attentive and overall a very pleasant lunch.

Nicely refurbished and food was good, staff were attentive however, on 1 occasion during the meal we didn't get what we had ordered and on two occasions we did not receive what was advertised on the menu. In fairness the staff were quick to rectify the issues, it was just a bit disappointing that we had to keep complaining as this is a nice restaurant.

I had the beef bourguignon and it was delicious. The decor is very nice too.20/9/21 - The Rouge Breakfast was great value for money and tasty.28/11/21 - The fillet mignon was expertly cooked, best steak I've had in a while.

Nice french cuisine - Visited with my family, kids enjoyed their time at the restaurant. Good food well presented but bit expensive for the quantity they served. Staff is very friendly and attentive around the table all the time. We didn’t liked the mocktails which we ordered, but staff understood and changed it straightaway. My wife liked her starter King prawns and my Garlic mushrooms was yummy. Main course we had Chicken Burger and Leffe beer battered fish which was delicious, would recommend others to try. My daughter spent her time on solving the puzzle and drawing Chilly Billy. Desert we tried Hot chocolate fondant and Creme brulle which was good.Would visit again and recommend to others who like to try french food.

Came in for very late afternoon tea. Was met by a very friendly waitress. Have never visited the area or the restaurant. It was a quiet night, the place is clean. It did have a slight fishy smell but I think it was just the type of food being cooked. We had the ham sandwich which was very nice. The scones were a the perfect size and warm. The cakes were nice, the one that was slightly dry was the chocolate and red velvet cake. Everything was nicely presented. The teas were enough for us to have 2 full cups each. The ladies toilets were clean and dry.
