Having had a lovely walk in the gardens we decided to treat our selves to lunch. BIG MISTAKE.The restaurant was not overly busy but the service was so slow. From the very poor choice of light bites we opted for sausage rolls with red Leicester. Having waited 20 minutes for our food I went to discover what the problem was. I was informed "they're just being done" (funny that). 5 minutes later a tray was dumped (the only word I can think of) on our table with silence - no apology for the delay or "enjoy your lunch". The sausage rolls were hot but not very nice. The pastry was very tough to cut and in places the sausagemeat was glued to the pastry so that parts were inedible. And to add insult to injury this unpleasant lunch and a bottle of water cost £11.50. Don't eat here

Terrible. Waited in half an hour in que. Got to front, ordered a quick item to take away (panini) to be told to take a seat and it sould be 35 mins till it comes out. Serious lack of staff on a busy day. Got refund and left....

Very slow service, ran out of food by 12.30, and after queuing for ages to order coffee had to join another long queue to get it.

Overpriced. Often messy tables and the decor is completely inappropriate for a historic and natural environment such as Wakehurst, too slick and modern. The menu is displayed once, at the start of the queue so you had better remember it by the time you get to the counter. Are menus expensive to produce?Everything is expensive. A child's pizza was £7.00 and was basically HALF a shop-bought mini pizza with a salad.Staff look stressed.

Hey I just wanted to say I dined at wakehurst cafe on Saturday and had an amazing experience thanks to one of your waiters. He was extremely chatty and brightened my day with his smile! I asked for his name he said it was isaac, will definitely be coming back. Food was amazing too!

Very light and airy. Friendly staff. Good tasty menu. Ample seating. My plate of vegetables was delicious. Licensed. Easy access. Sunny outside seating.

The food here is average and over priced. I've eaten quite a few times here and feel the food sounds good but the taste doesn't match the promise. The pumpkin and lentil curry I had recently was pretty tasteless. The jacket potato and fillings are the best value food offerings. The free from cake range on offer is lacking in flavour. The scones are nicely baked. Overall a mixed bag.

The restaurant was busy and staff were efficiently clearing tables. There was a selection of sandwiches but only one vegetarian option; priced between £3.95 and £4.95. Good selection of drinks. The lunch was pricey for sandwiches but was also enjoyable. Selection of hot dishes looked appetising.

Wakehurst Place....always a lovely and calm setting to walk and look around....with a wonderful mug of hot chocolate in the cafe to finish the day....
