The Rose and Crown in Mid Sussex

This is a pub I will avoid in future. Disabled or the colour of your skin will dictate how you are treated and lied to. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere where they treat everyone with civility, equality and a smile.I would not recommend this pub to anyone.

Not a sit down and relax with your friends and/or family and enjoy a meal kind of pub. I’ve just been with my pregnant sister who has been to this establishment before and been served outside as they were eating. I went inside to collect some menus and ask to order. I was then told by the manager, James, when I ordered inside, that I had to pay that minute to “clear the transaction from the computer”. I then asked if I could get a card machine brought outside as my sister was paying and we may want pudding later. He reiterated that I had to pay as soon as I ordered to “clear it” also that the card machine did not “work outside”.After our meal, low and behold one table down from us two tables get brought their bill (literally) on a silver plate and a card machine brought outside for them to pay. How convenient and easy right?Next time it may be easier to just treat everyone equally and not judge tables based on the colour of their skin - as discussed with the manager - the fact that the card machine had JUST been tested outside is all really peculiar & convenient given if that were true - why could they not test the machine with us outside? A 5 year old would’ve been able to come up with a better excuse for discrimination & prejudice. Never again and do not recommend.

First time breakfast visit to this traditional Cuckfield gastropub and it was excellent. Well cooked, top ingredients and good coffee. Reasonable prices, dog friendly, popular with families, parking and very friendly.

Really cosy pub with incredibly friendly staff. We went for breakfast- eggs benedict and a breakfast bap. Food was outstanding flavours and top quality. So delicious! Would highly recommend 👌

Loved this pub - really friendly and attentive service. We ordered the Thai burger, and the beef burger (with pulled pork too!) - both new on the menu and awesome. Very very full after. Our server even sorted a taxi for us, really lovely pub.

Lovely pub, good service but always with no heating. Times that I use to go anyway, around 1:30pm.Sad but today was the fourth and last time that I complained about the heating, but nothing happened.Talbot is a bit further, with friendlier staff, cheaper and warmer!!!!

The food was lovely, quick and friendly service. Impressive menu. Plenty of seating outdoors. Will definitely be visiting again in the future.

Absolutely gorgeous new menu!! Cannot believe I lucked into that one on my first visit. The vegan antipasto plate was sublime, as was the guinea fowl. Will definitely go back many more times! Some really passionate food!

Good pub with a nice restaurant and beer garden. Cosy but clean decor with a good selection of beer wine and spirits. The food is tasty "pub grub" it is good quality and comes quickly. Doesn't serve food between 1500 and 1800 on Saturdays.
