The Shoulder of Mutton Restaurant in Milton Keynes

This is a real find.The landlord is very friendly. Nothing is too much trouble.(They had run out of Pimms, but, that is not a surprise. It is a very hot spell.)The food is delicious.It is not served on slate, or anything fancy, it is on proper plates, and great to look at and even better to taste.The portion sizes are larger than the average pub, and very good value.I ordered the steak and chorizo salad with leaves. I expected some bits of steak and a little bit of chorizo and side salad.I had a really good steak, sliced, on top of the leaves; a good portion of chorizo, and plenty of tomatoes and cucumber.The steak was ordered medium, and that is exactly what I received.It was succulent, not dry, just beautifully done and tasty.There was no swamping of the meat in a sauce.It was delicious.Everyone else polished off their starters and mains as well.There was no room for dessert. We will be back and try a main and dessert next time.I highly recommend this pub for the quality of service and tasty, no frills, generous portions of food.You will not get much better.

Hey, after a long time we could finally go away for a few days. From the Netherlands to the Shoulder of Mouton in Calverton. The fellow traveling companions have been here for several years. We took for granted that no breakfast could be provided this year and that it was too busy because there were musical performances, so we couldn't eat there either. Then you actually want the rest to be in order. I'm not going to say much about that. I do want to say one thing. If, like me, you laugh exuberantly and receive a (quasi-laughable) comment about it, that tells me enough about what someone's nature is like.

Great location for our overnight stay before going to Bletchley Park. Accommodation clean and meal in the pub was good.

Lovely local pub known for great food. We sat in the garden the other day, and the only negative I would say was that there was a lot of dog poo around the tables.

Popped in for a quick pint and got tempted by a fish goujon sabdwich. It was delicious and came with some of the best chips I've had, for only £6.50. Beautiful setting outside too, though the inside could do with being refreshed. We'll definitely be back again.

It's a small traditional local pub. Subtle honest food with a nice range of beer and spirits. Service is very friendly. Everything what you would expect from your local pub.

Despite shortage of staff they provided a first class service with great home cooked Sunday roast. I will be back

Very welcoming, friendly stay! Arrived early but as the room was ready, we were shown to our room quickly! Staff very friendly, Gary was lovely, food was absolutely amazing, big portions for a great price! Amazing little getaway!

Lovely feel good pub..Lovely village, close to Silverstone circuit , very friendly staff..clean tidy room with nice views! Also allowed us to check in 2hrs early! Highly recommended
