Edit after owner reply:Appreciate you taking the time to reply and whilst I accept mistakes happen, I feel your presumption is unfair - we asked about our food after roughly 25 minutes, then we waited a further 25 minutes with no update. We left purely as my 3 year old daughter could not wait any longer to be fed. I certainly felt we were polite and we only spoke to let the original waitress know that we would need to cancel the order.I've upped the review from 1 -> 3 stars considering the explanation - I'm sure we'll give it a second chance.Original review below:The pub looks lovely, but seriously let down by service. My daughter and I waited close to an hour for our lunch, when we explained we now had to cancel and leave without our food, the response was just “ok”. A shame.

Mother's day lunch was fabulous. Waiters attentive and very good food. We had a lovely table, very cosy with a wonderful view on the glorious surrey hills. Just on the foot hill of Box hill, so went for nice at sunset, perfect.

We were here for a late lunch after a Boxhill walk. Best Ploughman’s plate we have had. Beautiful presentation and wonderful selection of cheeses as well as ham, olives and pickled onions. The butternut squash soup also delicious. Parking difficult but Tony and Jocelyn were delightful staff.

Lovely cosy pub with excellent food. Staff super friendly and welcoming. Will certainly come back!

A nice cosy pub on top of a hill. We came here for a Sunday Roast in the middle of a Box Hill circular walk. The food was very nice by pub standards and the staff were friendly. I would recommend!

Went here for a new year's Day lunch after a walk round box hill. Vegan food was incredible - friends all enjoyed the burger and the vegan pie special was to die for. Honestly some of the best vegan pub food we've ever had, we were talking about it the whole way home. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back if we were in the area. Only downside was tips were cash only so we couldn't leave a tip the staff team so deserved. Thanks Eamon and all

What a wonderful pub. We went there for the first time on Saturday afternoon. It was full up with customers, and their dogs, even in mid-afternoon. I had two large dogs with me and the staff were fantastic with them and us. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing. The best I've had in a long time. Freshly cooked while we waited. It was absolutely delicious and, just the right portion size. I can't recommend this place highly enough and, will definitely be back again.

Nice spot, nice atmosphere. Decent enough service except the senior citizen waiter or owner, who may be a bit more friendly and a bit less repeling. The dishes are tasty.

Really charming find, a cosy pub a little up the hillside with a lot of outdoor tables, many under shelter, with great views over the valley. Tasty and well presented food, I had the Sunday Roast lamb which was tender and tasty. Really friendly and helpful team of servers. We'll definitely be back.

Gorgeous little pub tucked away from the main road, plenty of outdoor seating, SUPER friendly and efficient staff and the most delectable lamb roast I’ve ever eaten. I ordered fries instead of roast potatoes and damn they were crispy. They only take cash tips so bring cash cause you’ll need it for this place, hats off to the staff!
