Traditional English pub and all the better for that!Literally hundreds of years of history, quaint and cosy inside with an an outside courtyard and separate beer garden.Serves bar food and full pub menu.Friendly staff; can thoroughly recommend if you're in the area.

Good food, good beer, friendly staff. Can't fault it and beer garden in the sun, bliss

Nice pub, spoilt only by the miserable bar staff who obviously rather be somewhere else.

We had Sunday lunch at the Running Horse and couldn't fault it, quite probably the nicest pub roast dinner I've ever had. Great service, lovely staff and very reasonable prices - we will be back!!

Atmosphere is nice, pleasant & efficient staff, good beer, but the food, oh dear.I ordered salmon fishcakes, with chips and salad. The chips were store bought oven baked ones and was one of the smallest portions I have ever received, the salad was barely visible and was covered in something sickly sweet , but the fish cakes were nothing less than a con. They were cooked almost to the stage of being burnt, but it was only when I cut into the second fishcake and notice one small flake of salmon that i realised the first fishcake had no salmon in it, and the second one had a piece the size of my thumbnail. All this for £10.50I realise pubs have been hit hard over the last couple of years, but cutting costs where it severely effects the quality will only do more harm than good.So my advice is, by all means pop in for a pint or three, but DO NOT TOUCH the food

Lovely cosy atmosphere with the open fire and the ales are in great condition. Excellent service as usual.

I've always loved this place... I used to go there a lot in th late 1980s and through th early 1990s... I guess its because you feel that you're back in another time.. As the great bard Mr Zimmerman once said , "In this world of fibreglass , I'm searching for a gem."They say it's been there since 1403... I don't know but it must have a load of stories to tell...

Proper authentic!! 🍻 A British pub with clean facilities, colourful locals and very bright, friendly staff. WEE bit dusty and dim.. but that's a proper pub innit.
