We went for a Mother’s Day lunch for the first time today, I cannot tell you what a refreshing change it was to be somewhere with great service and excellent food. The staff were so helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, we had my 7month old granddaughter with us and they couldn’t have been more helpful in providing suitable food for her. I have this pub on my must return to list, which I have to say has become very short recently. I have always been reluctant to go out for meals on the big occasion days as they are so often a let down in term of quality and cost but not The Running Horses!

Our first time to eat here, and wow what an amazing evening. I can not fault the restaurant with anything to comment on!.. which is rare for me. Quality food, perfectly cooked and presented. Table service top notch. Beautiful place which retains the old fashioned pub feel... Certainly can recommend here for drinks and food. Well done all.....

We happened across this place and had the best pub food either of us could remember. Seriously. Also we showed up without a reservation, with a dog and a baby, and they were lovely, and made room for us. (But don't risk doing this!)It wasn't cheap, but it was at the bottom of Box Hill, serving beautiful food, keeping their beer well, being generally really nice... We didn't mind paying London prices. It was worth every penny.

Beautifully renovated and under new management The Running Horses pub has fast become one of our favourites when we visit family nearby. The Sunday Roast here is great but special shout out to the chef for the Sticky Toffee Pudding and the management for the most exhaustive wine list I’ve seen in a long while… see you soon

We had a very comfortable two night stay. The Windsor room was very clean and stylish. The bar has a lovely atmosphere with all the staff being very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is beautifully decorated as part of the recent refurbishment. We ate there on two evenings and for lunch. We enjoyed all the food but especially recommend the venison. The burgers we had for lunch were also delicious.

Recently refurbished and under new management. Nice friendly welcome when we came in for Sunday lunch. Got a great seat by there fire. Staff were great, promptly with taking our orders and serving us, coming back to top our drinks and check we were okay. Really nice to get good service in a pub nowadays. The food was excellent, the roast beef was delicious and plentiful.A big improvement on an already very good pub. Will be back again soon.Cheers

Cannot recommend this pub more. The decor is lovely, warm fire going felt so lovely and cosy on a winter's evening. Excellent selection of wines, the best fish and chips I've ever eaten and really fantastic attentive service. Can't wait to come back.

We have been visiting the running horses for a couple of years and was not sure what to expect when we heard it had been refurbished.. well what an experience. Sunday lunch for 3 was one to remember. After a six mile walk around the hills the welcome we received was lovely! We had pre-booked and had a lovely table at the front of the pub. Warm and cozy and attentive and friendly staff made the experience great. Three roast beef arrived and the beef was exceptional. Lots of it and absolutely delicious, washed down with a bottle of Malbec made for the perfect Sunday roast. Dessert was blackberry crumble and sticky toffee pudding which was the perfect way to end the meal and great portion sizes too!Could not recommend enough and already booking again for Sunday roast!

Fantastic family meal. Awesome refurb, friendly fireplace as you come in and lovely dining area with charm and character of an old stables. Staff were super friendly and kind to our little ones, food was amazing (we had three courses!) kids menus small out perfect with sharing snacks. We have been around 4-5times and this was by far the best. See you soon!!!

Newly refurbished and what a pub. All the original features have been maintained but so beautifully brought right up to date with a fabulous en trend make over creating a warm atmosphere and welcoming space to catch up with friends. The menu was really enticing with a fabulous selection of small plates and mains to choose from. Staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful. When the food arrived it certainly lived up to its reputation and clean plates followed very quickly. We've just learned they're also doing breakfast now, so early morning winter walks will most definitely have to finish up here so we can sample the breakfast menu. Well done 'Running Horses' how lucky we are to have you on our doorstep ... we will return very soon....
