Was taken here for brunch, quiet little place in the woods, looks like it has some lovely little rooms to stay, food wise, it was nice, however mac and cheese was way to overpowering to the point it was sickly, too much vintage cheddar and I like a good mac n cheese, also had a burger, only fault was slightly dry, service was good but little of it, and it wasn't overly busy, with a little nudge in the right direction this place could be 4 to 5 stars. Just needs a touch more attention but overall a good place.

The location of Spot in the Woods is brilliant, and i should imagine great for walking. We met friends for dinner and had really looked forward to the evening. Maybe I looked forward to it too much and therefore was always going to be disappointed. For starters two of us had beetroot humus, which was very nice, one had the halloumi cheese (you have got to like pesto, I really don't) and the other person pigs in blankets which he said he enjoyed. We ordered a bottle of white wine, one juice, and one ginger ale and looked forward to our mains.I had the halloumi in a bun, which sadly came smothered in pesto so it was a struggle for me to eat it. The other halloumi bun person I noticed left a fair bit too. The other two ordered the burger which looked really good, but was not. It was a little dry and way too much meat, maybe if it was good they might have eaten it. I can only say that one person said he thought the burger not brilliant as it was dry. The chips were great though, a highlight. We then ordered 3 coffees and four puddings, two sundaes and two sticky toffee. The two sundae eaters both left most of them, I was told by one they were mostly cream and cake, but the two sticky toffee and ice creams were eaten. So all in all a mixed bag, I suspect the pizzas would be good as you can't go wrong with them. The staff were very friendly and the right side of attentive. The total bill came £170, not a small amount and a high price for a generally disappointing meal.Great company in a good space for catching up so we had a nice evening all in all.

Visited spot in the woods for our 10 year anniversary and couldn't have picked a better place. The breakfast and dinner was delicious with plenty of choice and even a great brunch menu. Also had coffee with a slice of caramel and apple pie one afternoon which was amazing. The room we had was very spacious and a very relaxing place to be, especially the large shower and bath that gave the room a luxurious feel. We also had a separate area with seating, tea and coffee facilities, dressing table, wardrobe and safe. The restaurant/bar is very welcoming with a quirky touch, but most importantly the staff create a very comfortable atmosphere with exceptional service. There is also outside seating either on the decking area or benches in the garden. We were constantly asking about recommendations for places to eat for our anniversary and the manager gave us every detail of the local restaurants. Very nice gentleman indeed. I highly recommend a stay here and will certainly be returning ourselves when we want somewhere to stay near the new forest.

Not a vast menu available for afternoon tea. Very little cakes but the scones were good. Lunch was not available as the kitchen closed at 2.45pm on a Saturday. Not an afternoon tea place.

We had a lovely weekend away at this beautiful hotel with our extended family. Fiona could not do enough for us and offered us a different room when the cabin was a little tight for us with two small children. The children loved it so much so we stayed in the cabin and it was so cute, with clever storage and a real unique rustic experience. I imagine the best experience in one of the cabins would be in the summer as there was a semi private seating area to enjoy a tipple on a summers evening. There was a large shower and everything is done to a high finish. There was also some lovely gifts left for us on arrival. My Grandad's room in the hotel was lovely with a big bathroom including a stand alone bath which he loved. On our second night my Grandad had trouble with the TV and a member of staff went up to his room immediately to sort it out. The food in the restaurant was of high quality and very yummy. We will definitely be returning when we next come to the New Forest, would recommend for couples and families. Thank you Spot in the Woods!

We stayed for one night on 29th December to celebrate our anniversary. 20 years to the day we had our wedding reception here when it was under different ownership.,so it was special for us. We had a fabulous stay. The luxury room..Deerleap was amazing. A freestanding bath, a seating area, a patio area which would be wonderful in summer, even some fudge for us. The meal we had was beautifully cooked and the service was spot on. Breakfast was just as good. Again the same lovely waitress, and buttermilk pancakes with bacon and maple syrup.! Whats not to like.I would say that the surroundings and the touches of luxury make it worth every penny. We are thinking of trying one of the shepherds huts in the summer.Thank you everyone for a memorable anniversary.

Absolutely loved this place. Great value for money. Lovely staff. Room exceeded expectations. Huge bathroom with roll top bath and walk In shower. Ideal for our dog. Very convenient carparking. Breakfast and dinner were generous portions. Highly recommend and would like to return if we visit the New Forest again.

Had a wonderful lunch at Spot In The Woods today! Excellent burger. Such a lovely menu, plenty to choose from! The staff were exceptional, all extremely friendly, professional and couldn't do enough to help. I'll definitely be back!

We had such a lovely stay as a family of four (2 under 2!) the shepherds hut was so nicely decorated with everything feeling clean and fresh. The staff were lovely, especially when having our breakfast - super friendly! Will definitely be coming back, this is me saying this after staying one night only for my birthday in torrential rain also! :)
