Just visited for a coffee. So can't say much, however, nice nautical decor, lovely view over the river, and friendly staff. What I would say is if you are thinking of taking the kids to view Bucklers Hard, there really isn't much there. Just have a nice drink here instead!

Total disaster!Came for food on a Friday night. Went for the steak and lobster for two which at ÂŁ75 is a bit of a price but wanted to have something above par.Alarm bells rang when after taking our order and just walking off, I asked the waitress how the steak will be cooked, 'on the grill' was the response. Then said no, as in can we give our preference to how well done etc.... We went for medium rare. The lobster came out first which must have been from the juvenile tank as barely had anything at all on it to pick at, we had to ask for the special utensils as they didn't come after waiting.Lobster away, steak up. It was ready sliced and immediately clear it was a well done steak which is quite different to medium rare. We had to ask for steak knives. Steak sent away and, to the credit of the waiter, they went to replace it. In the mean time we went through the veg and chips (the latter excellent it must be said) as we waited and waited...Another baby lobster turned up which was gone in a minute and the wait continued. When the steak did arrive it was now immediately clear that the chef had gone too far the other way and this time is was blue / rare.We had a couple mouthfulls and decided that at this price, it just wasn't good enough to not get what we asked for. So we refused to pay.Credit to the manager, he agreed and accepted that they had 'got it wrong' that night. But that said, the mistake had been made twice and if you were going out for a special meal then this wouldn't change the mistake. A mistake, it must be said, was clear and we would have paid for if we didn't say.Maybe the chef was new, having a bad day or whatever it was so I don't want to be too mean in this era of everyone being a critic. But on the experience we had and the money we were meant to pay for it nothing more than a 1 star review is deserved.Again however, they accepted the mistake and need to be given credit for at least that. Will not be chancing it again though, the location is great so beer only but definitely no food.

The restaurant’s food menu was very limited. Someone requested a side salad to accompany their main dish and this was not possible.Food was nice, but nothing special (comparative to the price).Customer service was better - cocktails were nice and the serving staff were friendly.

If the service could match the food our experience would have been 5*. All that was needed was a little communication. If they had told us that they were understaffed then we would have understood why it took an hour and fifteen minutes to get our mains and a second round of drinks. Instead we just sat there frustrated and angry waiting for service. The food was delicious and this would be our reason to return and try again.

I booked a room at the hotel for my wife’s birthday, checking in was smooth and we were given an excellent room with great views of the river however this turned out to be so noisy from guests above, along side and below. The room above had children in who sounded like they were running around and jumping off the beds which was shaking the lighting and mirror on our wall at 11pm at night. The room next to us had a bride staying in who was getting married there and there was a constant stream of people knocking the door and talking right outside our room both late evening and from 7am in the morning. The noise from the restaurant below went on until late and then started early so what was supposed to be a nice relaxing stay was far from it unfortunately. We also had dinner in the restaurant I ordered cider and received larger. We did get two complementary glasses of Prosecco for my wife’s birthday which was nice, the starters were lovely but the mains were over cooked and dry I also asked for English mustard and received French. Breakfast was ok but very slow coming out and they were short of things on the menu. It’s such a shame as the location is lovely.

Visited this place for my friend weeding, and from its charming location to very welcoming staff it was the perfect place to be.Big shout out to one of the member of the bar staff that went a out of his way for me and my friend for us to have a nice cup of tea outside "in cold". From bringing the coffee to our table to switching outdoor heating lamps and even of trying to find us some blankets he was very caring, generous and pleasure to talk to - a lot of people could learn a lot from him.

Stopped for lunch, very very expensive (£35 for 2 courses was the only option, and that only had 4 mains).Service was very slow, even though it wasn’t that busy. We didn’t get offered any more drinks and had to ask for tea and coffee at the end. We had 5 different waiting staff throughout the lunch. The table next to us stayed messy from the previous occupants for 45 minutes before it was cleared.Lovely view and location but definitely won’t eat there again.

We booked a dog friendly room. The room was quite small even though we have a small dog. The floor was not quite clean. It is also quite noisy with other dogs barking. The room was next to the car park so we can hear cars in and out, which did not help to settle down the dog.The food in the restaurant was fantastic though with nice wine. The dog friendly part of the restaurant is also quite dirty.

We had great stay here. The staff were lovely and very welcoming and helpful. The restaurant meals were great and delicious. The room was very clean. They have there own parking which was great. The only draw back is they put a 8 percent service charge on drinks that you get from the bar which I think is a bit too much as you have to get somebody to serve behind the bar. Maybe they might change there policy on this. But all in all great.

Dropped in to the Master Builder’s Hotel for lunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The location, environment and food were all very nice and we had a lovely lunch. My wife had the Pan Fried Corn Fed Chicken Breast whilst I had the Double Aberdeen Angus Burger. Really enjoyed both, although the homemade burger relish had a little too much mustard in for my taste. It was a quiet(ish) lunch service but we did get forgotten about when it came to choosing a dessert. We were left with the menu, but no one came back to take our order in 15 mins, after which our appetite had passed. That said, overall the service was good, and the team were lovely so I’m not deducting a star.
