Poor value for money. £17 for a saucer full of macaroni cheese and some lettuce leaves.!

Had a meal at Monty's when my wife and I stayed at the Montague Arms on the 13th December. Food was lovely but the staff and managers friendliness made the already special day even more special x. Thank you all. Hope to see you same time same place next year.

We had an enjoyable lunch here in the pub side of the Inn. The staff were very welcoming and dog friendly too. The menu is slightly limited for vegetarians and I felt a little overpriced for the vegetarian option. However all the food did taste very good and the service was excellent. Can also cater for gluten free (coeliac) diners too as they have separate fryers.

Visited Monty's after reading the generally very good reviews of others. However, our experience was very poor.High-quality steak ruined by far too much salt and overcooking:- surely a trained chef can manage a correctly-seasoned medium-rare steak for £30! To be clear, I am very confident that I could have done a far job myself with the same steak on a camping stove!Over-cooked chips, but comparatively better than the steak.Good-quality mushrooms also ruined by the 'chef'.An inedible cardboard burger, probably the work of the same 'chef'?Incompetent and forgetful service, later topped off with erroneous overcharging; really not good. After the above, we decided not to risk desert. Then charged 12% for the poor service above.Perhaps they were having a very bad day?Food and Table 'Service' aside, "The Lord's" toilets were clean and nicely decorated, although the hand dryer, like the staff, wasn't working properly. All in all, a regrettable, over-priced experience, so won't be returning, but life goes on.

We tried the pigs ears starter! Was very interesting but very tasty. Don’t be afraid to try. The waiting staff were very lovely and friendly and the food was incredible! We had the pea soup and squid starter which were both so fresh and tasty and then had the pork and fish and chips as mains. Probably one of the least greasy and nicest fish and chips I’ve ever tried.

Lovely lunch at Monty's. Good choice across the menu from sandwiches and light bites, through to full size platters. I ordered the burger with fries, my wife had the beer battered haddock and chips. Wife commented that the homemade Tartare sauce was excellent and the mushy peas delicious. Book ahead, always busy!

Excellent lunch, great service, lovely ambience. Pigs ears and Leak&Potato soup followed by Lambs necks with minted peas.

By accident we decided to have dinner here after a long day at Beaulieu Abby.We had salmon and fish cake... the food was exceptionally tasty. The waiter Graham was so nice explaining us the different dishes and made the perfect recommendation.Definitely a place I can only recommend.
