So I love a good pub. But village pubs can be hit or miss. Especially if they are 'gastro pubs' or have some sort of food reputation. We went here more as a restaurant than a pub, so I cannot vouch for popping in for a pint or 2. What I can say is that if you are nearby and want a lovely meal for a decent price... This is the place. My wife and I had dinner here, with a menu consisting of beef, fish, vegetarian etc I had pheasant and my wife duck. The food was truly delicious and very reasonably priced. Not only that but the quantity was spot on. Both the meat and veg received were healthily portioned. Sauces top notch and atmosphere great. We had some bread and oil to start (all fancy like) and we both had beer. My wife doombar and myself a double-tap amber ale... As soon as the final drop hit my lips the waiting staff were in to get me a refill. Which brings me to the last point... The staff. What a lovely bunch. Very attentive and pleasant. Aware of the room and clearly capable of handling the regulars and meal-goers. I cannot compliment this establishment enough. The only regret I have is that we didn't go last night and had another meal!Got to go if you want next level pub grub!

what a lovely find I had the chicken with veg and potatoes my husband had the RAT burger both excellent. We enjoyed so much booked to go back on the Wednesday but the weather was due to change so booked inside it was a very warm night and they had the offer on from the government so very busy. Again excellent food ( sorry no pictures this time ) but a long wait for desert so we just asked to have it as take out which was not a problem . Very friendly and excellent following covid we felt very safe and dog friendly

Stopped here on the way to the New Forest from London. Idyllic little spot in a quiet, tucked away location. We had an outside spot for lunch on a Friday and struck out with the weather. We had the roast beef and pork sandwiches, which were both great. The venue feels covid secure and we felt comfortable eating here.

Absolutely amazing food and idyllic setting. Two weeks after pubs and restaurants have reopened after lockdown, this place has it absolutely nailed. You feel totally safe. Ordering drinks and food is through your phone - it’s totally seamless and you’ve no sooner ordered your drinks and they seem to appear at your table. The manager and waiting staff were totally fab - they all wore visors keeping them and us safe. Lots of hand sanitiser and outside tables nicely spaced out.You almost forget we’re still in the middle of this madness. Very chilled, wonderful food. Highly recommended.

Great, great place. I would thoroughly recommend. Very friendly, attentive service in a beautiful little pub. My favourite for 2020. Good food, all locally sourced. In the winter a wonderful open fire (well 2 open fires one on the restaurant and one in the bar/games area). Such a treat.

A very pretty thatched place to enjoy some awesome country meals. Not a clattered menu so not very cofused what one should try. Enjoyed the humorous decor on the wall which gave it a nice warm countryside feeling. The food was so delicious that one only remembered to share a photo when the pudding arrived. . We had a three course meal and thoroughly enjoyed their service.
