The Cat and Fiddle Harvester in New Forest

Food was the best from a harvester as we had a bad experience from the sea horse alder road you can see my reiviewAnyway food Was good no complaints from that .The only issue we had was the service was slow had to keep calling him, took ages to get a drink, we were a table of 14 I think it would of been better if they kept an eye on us to make sure we were looked after .Also the table was not cleaned after each dish .We will go there again so I hope this re view has helped.

Visited the Cat & Fiddle, first time since lockdown. Very enjoyable meal. The free salad is currently served to you at the salad bar (your selection), but they hope to allow serve yourself soon. We both had chicken dishes - the tripple combo (nearest in photo) and the original combo. The flavouring on the chicken with the tripple combo was a good blend... really enjoyed it. The chicken gravy is especially tasty and compliments the meal. Look forward now to going again.

Lovely atmosphere. Plenty of food. We had the 2 course set lunch menu and it was all we good do to manage to eat it all. Very pleasantly friendly staff. We were served by Abigail who was very helpful and delightful. NO complaints at all. Highly recommend this place.

This was the 1st time going for a meal since the pandemic! The staff were friendly and polite, no issues there but the food was awful, I went with my husband & 2 of my adult children & 2 grandchildren, myself & my children had the pitmaster so not cheap at all at £20.99 the ribs were burnt & what little meat there was was very tough & dry & the same with the chicken, very disappointed! Will not be visiting a harvester again, we don't go out for meals that often so when we do it has to be better food than what we got here

Food was good, ale was good. Would much prefer to select my own salad rather than a member of staff put a measley amount in a bowl for me. That's what has stopped us going back when we first discovered they were doing that. Thankfully staff said it's ending soon!

We went on Sunday 13th Feb 2022 and were served by (I believe) Tiffany. Service and food were both excellent. I quite liked that the salad bar is now staffed rather than help yourself - made me feel much better that the food wasn't touched by all the other customers!Will definitely come back!

Have been to the Cat and Fiddle in the past and we decided to return for a post Birthday meal (the problem with midweek Birthdays).We were seated quickly and politely by friendly staff and the first drinks order was taken and served swiftly.We skipped starters and went straight for mains.My wife went for the "Bird, Surf and Turf" and I opted for the mixed grill.Most of the food was OK but have to say the Steak on both dishes was a real disappointment. Tough and quite a lot of grissle.I have had much better steak at home and most other places locally. Either they need to spend more on better cuts or quality check what the supplier is giving them.Other dishes may fare better but I can't say I'd order a steak in the future.As we were in a quieter corner we found getting a second round of drinks took a while as no staff came to check if we needed anything and dessert took a very long time to arrive.Overall not a bad experience but far from good.... Hence only 3 stars.

Great meal helped by using a 50% off voucher for the main course. Food was excellent as usual, my wife said her rack of ribs was possibly the best she's ever had, although her chips were a bit soggy! I had the blue cheese burger with sweet potato fries, they were superb.Service was good, friendly and helpful.

Food was good as usual. Staff girl LIA was very hospitable. We had small problem with food and she replaced the whole plate for us. Salad portions are reduced though, and there were not many options in salad as they used to be. But hopefully they'll bring back other options too. Loved the quite little corner with beautiful dusk light from the window.

Lovely evening dinner we were served by 2 ladies one was wearing a red checkered shirt I think she was the manager and the other I think her name was Dani we booked a table and was shown promptly the whole experience was amazing from start to finish the 2 staff that were on were clearly not struggling with the load they were taking it in turns to serve the salad bar ( bring back self service ! ) the food was amazing I had the chicken stack and it was absolutely stunning from the first bite to the last !!! The manager was walking around making sure everyone was having a good time and even bought a child on another table a egg from the chicken machine because he wasn’t wanting to sit at the table anymore and the mother hadn’t quite finished eating !! What a fantastic manager you have there!! All in all a lovely evening and we will certainly be back so thank you again to the manager and Dani we look forward to seeing you both again soon !!!
