Nice accommodation and very friendly staff. Very poor food. Limited choices for dinner. Tiny portions. No vegetables. Two or three complaints from my party.

Visited many times now, a dependable relaxed bolt hole. Restaurant for lunch & dinner excellent, breakfast too. Pleasant staff. The deluxe rooms offer more space. Plenty of parking at the rear. Pool available at their sister property nearby!

Fantastic venue for a wedding recently attended. The rooms are beautiful with comfortable beds and seating.Staff were excellent and the food was great, especially the sausages at breakfast.Would stay again.

Was looking forward to a quick bite here and were quite disappointed. Three of us went and two were less than impressed. Food portions were tiny. I had the welsh raebit which was thinly spread on a piece of bread the size of a cream cracker. Was tasteless too although presented nicely. The other person had soup which was bland and best bit was there was no bread or roll to accompany it. We realized after that there was bread on the menu at £4 a slice. !!Dont they say you get what you pay for.. well we surely didn't.I'm local and wont be going back or recommending. We usually eat in Beaulieu high st and always enjoy ourselves. Everywhere was full so treated ourselves to Monty's or so we thought .Not great

Absolutely shocking service for a hotel if this standard. Phoned to book afternoon tea in the morning for same afternoon - given verbal confirmation of the booking. My mum travelled over from the Isle of Wight and we got to hotel and was told they had no booking. Told it was probably at their sister hotel (which is ridiculous as I booked via the non central telephone number on their website). I called the same number back and they checked their sister hotel for reservations, but nothing made there either. Cross doesn’t begin to describe the poor service. Avoid.

The birthday meal for my niece was disgusting, you need to get a new chef . It wasn't just my opinion there were quite a few who felt the same but didn't want to say anything as it would have spoilt her birthday celebration and if it was left up to me I wouldn't pay a penny towards the meal. So needless to say I will not be attending your premises in the future. The beef was raw , Yorkshire puddings solid vegetables cold and as for the cheese and biscuits they tasted like soap I have stronger cheese at home .

Booked in for a birthday Sunday lunch and expected a wow experience with the food considering a named chef leading the kitchen (Matthew Whitfield). Oh dear. Food was ok for a pub experience but the Montagu gives the impression of being more. Staff seemed overwhelmed (and we overheard that a number have moved on). Location is very nice but you don’t come to eat the garden so I’m sorry to say I wouldn’t make the effort to return.

Held our wedding there last year after having a disastrous year when both of us had bad covid. Nearly loosing my then partner to this awful virus made us decide to get married at the Montague Arms. What a amazing time the hotel facilitated . Went back this year after having another disaster being diagnosed with Cancer. So it was wonderful again to finish off the year with a lovely stay at the Montague Arms to celebrate our 1st anniversary and my remission. Wonderful staff and wonderful location. Look forward to celebrating our 2nd anniversary there. Thank you all, you have know idea how important our stay was to us.

Lovely weekend trip to a beautiful location. Building stunning. Room was very comfortable with everything you could need. Even though we were at the front no noise at all. Staff friendly and made us feel very welcome. The hotel had a very warm and cozy feel, fires burning in the grate sumptuous furnishings and country hotel decoration. Would highly recommend.

Really lovely location and building. Car park is a bit of a walk but should have realised to drop.of luggage first.Room was compact but had everything we needed regarding facilities.Food was excellent and the older waiter in the restaurant was very good and knowledgeable on the wine pairings. They had a wedding also that day but as a resident we wouldn't have known.Good to see new young staff being trained for the future as well.
