It seemed like an okay sort of a pub. The portion sizes were a little less than I'd expected for the price, but the food itself was nice enough once it arrived. The staff were all very pleasant and hard-working, but I'm just not sure that there were enough of them.

Vegetable soup was a hole tin of plumbed tomatoes & a few chopped up carrot...Vegetable soup should be .potatoes, carrot, celery, onion sweed ....????But I may be old fashioned & soup has got a make over ....I don't like tomatoes ...Other then thatBeautiful pub , lovely staff great fish & chips by what I saw . . Think ill have that next time ...

Not good ! Expensive prices for very small food portions eg chips and sandwiches. Have been happy here in the past , so surprised. Perhaps staff shortages play a part , but we were put off returning.

We took a very short break here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The venue was quiet but this is clearly due to the government's response to Covid and not because of the venue itself. Our room was perfect, bay window, bath in the room, coffee machine, party sized bed, absolutely spotless, likewise the en-suite. Everything kept to a very high standard. Nice selection of teas and coffees in the room with a real treat - fresh milk. Plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space. The usual facilities were found in room, iron (and ironing board), fan and heater. Our room was single glazed and a little cool, unsurprising due to the time of year and frankly double glazing would spoil the room. I would also have preferred slightly more supportive pillows but that's a minor niggle.Considering how quiet the venue was because of the government restrictions we were surprised at the wide choice for evening meal. I had a lovely piece of venison and my wife took the haddock. Wine was a little expensive and my garnish was a little under seasoned but neither spoiled the meal which was really first class. The bill included a discretionary service charge - which we paid but I don't like these, I'd much prefer to tip. There was a good choice for breakfast and the food was very well presented but this time our beans were a little cool. Taken as a whole though breakfast was great.Which leaves me to mention the staff. Excellent all round, attentive, courteous, friendly and helpful. From the evening staff when we checked in to the lovely lady who served us at breakfast. We even got a hello from the chef. First class. Will we be going back? Yes and we'll be staying for longer the next time.

Had a lovely meal here a couple of months ago and thought we’d try it again today. I had the fish pie again and, although it was very tasty, I’m sure it was half the size it was previously so I wouldn’t choose it again. My husband enjoyed his meal but I left still feeling a little hungry. Having said that, the service was good and it’s a nice place to eat.

Looking for a dog friendly pub we decided to give The Mayflower a try and popped by for a quick drink with my husband and our little dog. The pub was quiet and felt really cozy and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back.

Our Christmas dinner was amazing, everything we could of wished for. Also came a couple of days earlier and had the garlic chilli prawns and mackerel pate which was also excellent and a great dog friendly pub

Terry and his team are so friendly & welcoming.Top to bottom a great stay.Ample parking, quick and easy check in, the room was clean and spacious with a big bed soft duvet lots of pillows, Nespresso machine and jar of sweets. The well appointed bathroom had a lovely roll top bath and walk in shower both with great water pressure and fluffy towels. Dinner was first class, steaks cooked to perfection, and real comfort food deserts. Finally breakfast was just as good. We’ll be back soon.

Nice place, we very much enjoyed our overnight stay with our pooch. Food was very good, service a little slow at times. The room we had was mostly great with a lovely bathroom. However much of the furniture is damaged and looking tired. Room was cold on arrival as the radiator was off, perhaps they could turn them on prior to guests arriving? The fact all of the original leaded windows are bowing inwards with an actual gap in one letting in a draft didn't help.. I think we expected a little more given the price.

Reasonably priced dog friendly pub.Food was hot when served.Whitebait was very good as a starter. Don't go for the steak and ale suet pudding - this not what was served. Not a great deal of meat.Overall a decent venue for a group event.
