Just a great place. We have been here a few times. Excellent service excellent food, dog friendly. Can usually squeeze you in even if you haven't booked (obviously easier with a smaller group). Wine is good.

Been coming here 30+years, and it is never, ever a disappointment. Welcoming, relaxing, attentive lovely, really thoughtful staff, makes returning to visit relatives a highlight of our stay. OH! I forgot to mention the food... Delightful! History oozes comfortably from the walls and beams, summer or winter(open warm fires) , or autumn.the forest literally on its doorstep.. Woodland walks.. Had my first taste of damson wine when first met husband... Dogs are welcome and made a fuss of.It should be made a national treasure, part of so many lives passing through, a place to make golden memories. Thanx for being there.Chris Coleman.

The team there were so friendly & made us all feel very welcome. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal that evening & the chef served up the best Steak & Ale pie with a shortcrust pastry. A child & dog friendly establishment with a fantastic atmosphere. We’ll be sure to visit again next time we’re back in the New Forest!

A real old school country pub. Slightly shabby chic, but that works here. A courtyard garden. But for me the joy was the vegetarian choice and the heartiness of the pie. Usually as a vegetarian I expect a small healthy meal, but not so here. It was large, tasty and felt like I had been fed a proper dinner. Excellent

Nice cosy place. Awesome beer garden. There was a huge covered area outside - dunno if that was just for the jubilee or not though. Good selection of beers. I didn't try the food but it looked really nice, there were a lot of smiley faces so I can only assume that it tasted as good as it looked. On road parking is a bit hit and miss but there is a car park that you can access by turning off the main road and the entrance is a little way down on the left.

Large portions. Amazing chips. My wife had the steak and ale pie. I wish I had had that even though my own fish and chips meal was really really good. The garden had plenty of tables. Some in the sun some under cover. The tables in the sun were on a bit of a slope as areas of the garden are quite uneven. There is seating under a veranda and of course indoors. Indoors looked comfortable.

Not having been here for a couple of years, almost by accident popped into this pub on two occasions recently, both times on a weekend day. No prior booking. Both times felt welcomed and accommodated, a nice table each time and fantastic food.My absolute and utter respect to the staff. One of the best pubs in Hampshire!

Excellent Sunday roast in a comfortable setting with lots of outdoor seating available in addition to indoor. A generous portion of meat came with the Sunday roast (lamb) together with a chipolata sausage inside a Yorkshire pudding; potatoes were cooked to perfection with assorted vegetables. The salt-and-pepper squid was tasty, and the mango cheesecake was creamy and smooth – the best I have had – topped with chocolate-chocolate chip ice-cream.

Had a relaxing trip to the New Forest with my partner and stayed at this lovely pub for three nights. The room was cosy, clean and the bed comfy what more do you need when you are spending the day exploring the forest. The food here was delicious. Make sure you try the desserts too. All of the staff were friendly, helpful with great customer service and great humour as well. We will be back later in the year

My self, wife ( in wheelchair) plus 2 sons daughter , daughter in Law and 3 young children called in for a meal at the New Forest Inn . I can only say that the food, service, and every aspect of this wonderful pub was exceptional. The food was brilliant and competitively priced . They were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be making a regular return visit.
