Very friendly staff and nice beer. I love that it is dog friendly. On a Friday, there is a fish & chip van. It has become our local pub. Lastly they do sell very yummy local ice-cream too

Tony's Frying Machine, a mobile fish and chips van, serves assorted fried fish, hot dogs, and fruit at the Royal Oak on Saturdays with live music under an outdoor tent. The fish is fresh and the batter is light and fried to perfection. Service is quick and friendly. Judging by the people who were there, this seems to be a favorite amongst locals and families.

Lovely traditional friendly village pub serving a great range of real ales and decent pub grub. Cant keep myself from popping in whenever I am in the new forest. However best not to visit as, unsurprisingly, it becoming just a tad too popular these days!

GREAT ALE with fabulously friendly staff and open fires which sadly is a rare thing these days. Up there with the East End Arms as a proper locals pub in the New Forest which has surprisingly few real pubs.

A very small pub with a fantastic all year garden with cover and warmth outside. Great beer and restricted but favourable food. Worth a visit as part of a cycle or walk. Set in a lovely spot

Like many others, we decided to visit after seeing this place on the TV programme "Remarkable Places to Eat" with Fred Sirieix. We live on the edge of the New Forest and tied our visit in with a walk. There are plenty of trails near the pub, which is nice, we walked from the forest car park to the pub since the road was busy. Initially we thought it was a little expensive for a ploughman's, however there was actually a decent amount of food and plenty of cheese! The bread was still warm and the salad and accompaniments were all really tasty. We all ordered different variations and everyone enjoyed their food. I know currently they are only serving in boxes because of covid which made cutting and eating a little fiddly, but the food itself was excellent. A filling lunch after a morning walk, worth a visit.

Went for the first time today and wasn’t disappointed at all. Big garden with plenty of seating and cover, well planned out. My wife and I both had the ham and cheese ploughman’s and was the best pub lunch we have had in a long time. Great value at £10, plenty of it and the quality was top notch, loved the whole lunch.

Nice spot for a pint after a walk or a picnic style lunch. The food boxes were delicious and were generous portions. Good range of options all served with a base salad and coleslaw.Loads of picnic benches outside, some in shade to sit out. Seating atm is all outside.
