The Sir Walter Tyrrell in New Forest

I was surprised at what I found with this pub. It is situated in a perfect spot in the New Forest, with great views.Yet somehow, on walking into the land the pub is on, let alone in the pub itself, it feels like you're transported to some inner city boozer with an atmosphere akin to a basement dive bar, and not even the interesting kind of one.This was topped off by a barmaid (possibly land lady) who's attitude made it very clear our custom was a hindrance to her.Only stayed for drinks so cannot comment on the food.

Lovely, friendly and tucked away just enough that you can get that real country vibe. Although it isn't too far from the motorway that you have to drive for hours to get there... Unless you are coming from Scotland or something I guess. A real nice place to spend a Sunday. They have live music and do pretty awesome food too!

Clean, good food, good selection of drinks, lots of room. With a large outdoor area, including children's playground, and in a nice area of the New forest. We had a family gathering and I think that everyone was happy.So if we want to do it again. This place will be at the top of the list, to meet up

I've never been served an expensive pub meal on a Styrofoam plate before. The food was expensive and very average, my sons creamy pasta was inedible. The only saving grace was the beautiful scenery and the brilliant children's play area.

Had read reviews before visiting and had high hopes for a good pub meal, but was very disappointed. Despite being very quiet, service was ery slow, food disappointing and very expensive for what it was. The choice was pretty primitive. I really wanted something with vegetables, but could only see an extortionately priced ploughman's. So I had cod and chips which was served on some kind of disposable plate. The fish and chips itself were cooked well and crispy. The mushy peas had no seasoning and were bland. I would have preferred a fresh salad garnish.My son had a child's pasta which he took one taste, announced his disgust and ran back off to the play area. I tried it myself and have to agree with my son. Even with seasoning added it wasn't good, again not a vegetable in sight. Really nice location. Could be really lovely if they put some thought into their menu and food.

Popped in for dinner one nights whilst staying in Lyndhurst one Saturday night...... Not a big menu, just basic wholesome food. Very old large pub ..... Only 8 people in there including us 4. Pub is very busy during day as part of walking area and has a popular roast menu. Great friendly staff, nothing to much trouble.

Not easy to get there as it was raining a lot and one road was flooded. But I am glad we found another route. We went for the roast and that was fantastic. The "small portion" had just about as much food as the normal portion and for around £7 ( no Yorkshire pudding and you have to choose between pork, chicken or beef).

A favourite walk in New Forest.D day connections v interesting.Great cafe to start or end.Pay parking at booth.

Turned up with Motorhome for weekend stay. Owners went out there way to help me out after only just picking it up and being my 1st one.All staff very welcoming inside the stunning pub and please make sure you are hungry as the food was also stunning.Lamb Shank my partner had was amazing and my cod bake Madras curry was outstanding.Lovely setting, great staff with amazing food.What more can you ask for.Thanks to all staff for making our weekend away fantastic.

Great place to stop and unwind. They have a lot of outdoor seating and you can order food from your table. No apps just real people. The food is great, it takes a while but that's not a criticism as it's prepared fresh. Sit back, enjoy a drink and the lovely views. I found the picnic benches outside were not comfortable after 30 minutes , so if you have a numb bum you may need to relocate.
