African Delight in Oxford

Had Nigerian food there and I was a tad disappointed, it didn't taste original at all, the suya was basically just beef and a generic seasoning, the egusi tasted off, the people behind the bar were really friendly except for this one girl who makes cocktails, she was very rude and impatient.

The worst possible supposed African food at an inflated rate. Food was bland and portions were a joke. A pound for a puff is a total rip off. Suya was a disjustice to what they should taste like. Don’t recommend and will never stop by again. The Turkish restaurants further up the road are much tastier abs better value for money. AVOID HEAT!!

My friend walked into heat last night to be asked what was he doing in there??? bar staff walked over to him and asked he was ok after the comment. My friend stayed for one drink and left. I've told my friend to make a complaint after what he told me. Shame on the person who asked him what he was doing in there..

Previously had bad experience with their beans as I actually thought it will be Nigeria beans or ewagoyin ...but visited 2 days back to get suya, it was nice...the 2 ladies were awesome and helpful.they deserve to be the face of African heat.kidding lol 😆...Good experience in all.

The actual dish without the meat 🍖 was great. With the meat my teeth simply began aching as I walked out of the door ended up at the chemist buying chlorhexidine. My teeth for a number of days simply suffered. I have never had egusi soup like it. I have never gone there since. I noted a couple refused to order meat upon their second visit saying they had meat before.

Absolutely loved the food and ambience!! The jollof rice, plantain and chicken giblets was to die for! Very reasonable prices. This is definitely going to be a regular for me and hubby.

The music/DJ were great and the bar staff were brilliant! Really friendly and lovely bar staff, couldn’t fault them at all. The the owner however, was rude and combative and so was the security whom I will be formally making a complaint about with the SIA for his aggressive and violent behaviour towards two women. I’ve never seen anything like that from security in my 40 odd years. As for the owner, his behaviour makes it very hard to support black businesses and will not be parting my money here again.

What a lovely experience. The customer service is wonderful. Really had a great time with my friends. The food was sumptuous and the drink was nice. They also have stores you can get most African food. With great scenery to take nice shots

We were thrilled when we learned that Cowley Road was getting a West African restaurant and our first visit to HEAT did not disappoint us. We had grilled fish w/ miondo and ndole w/ plantains and rice - it was so delicious that we ordered fufu and egusi soup for take away. The atmosphere inside is welcoming and it was great to eat Cameroonian and West African food in Oxford while listening to Mr Leo and contemporary Afrobeat. I can't wait to visit again, I want to try their corn chaff and the nyama choma... yes, we are planning our next visit already.

Just got back from a great meal at African Heat. Highly reccomend the fried fish and Jollof rice. So tasty! The plantain was delicious and the Beef scewer starter so good! The manager/owner was also really warm and friendly
