Very bland food, not like any Lebanese food I've had before. Arrived in dribs and drabs even though we were told it could all be served at once, after all Lebanese food is designed to be shared.Rude staff. We had a reservation as it was a birthday but staff didn't even look at us when we arrived so we just went and sat down. As we were leaving we said goodnight and thank you and not one member of staff acknowledged us. Also wrap up warm it's very cold in there.

1) They did not answer the reservation request email after 90 minutes; 2) They served one starter at the same time as the main course, but forgot the soup; 3) By the time the soup arrived late, the main kebab was cold, greasy and soggy; 4) the main came with no vegetables and no bread, etc., but none were suggested when ordering.Whatever Al-Shami once was, it isn't that now: over-priced, extremely poor quality food. There is better Lebanese in the city centre.

I have been eating in Al ShamI for more than 20 years and I think it is currently on the up. The meze is great with lots of small flavorful and well cooked dishes. Lebanese wine is wonderful and service attentive but not overbearing. It is also good value when most restaurants are overpriced. Thank you.

OMG I love this place. The food is exquisite and the service is always tip-top. We love sitting in the back room as the decor is phenomenal. This place has been a firm favourite for 30 years and will be for many years to come.

Way overpriced for the portions we received. The portions were just about perfect for a kids size meal. Some of the meat was still undercooked and bland too. I’ve had way better and this is not a proper Lebanese kitchen. Very disappointed and will never order from here again

Dropped in and sampled several cold meze and lamb. Enjoyed it all.

Good food and good fast service :)! Having student discount could help more to get more students to come as well. We ordered vegetarian option and one meat option came by a mistake, which they did not replace it with another dish was one flaw that could be improved. Potentially having more of the bread or hummus could help more with big number of people.

The atmosphere of this place is very historical. Once entered asked if we have reservation which we did not. However still let us in and allowed us to sit where ever we wanted. I highly recommend to make a reservation on specially occasions as it may be busy.Falafel was delicious, however Humus was as not thick as it it should but I used it as a topping for the main food and made small little wraps-which given extra taste to it. The mains were also good however, the chicken could have been cooked a little longer. The food was also unsalted for my likings but again I am a person who likes salt the only negative part would be this and also not provided with a salt when asked :)

Nice and cosy middle Eastern restaurant in Oxford. Food is delicious, slightly overpriced (or size of the portions could have been better or vermicelli rice could have given as part of the main meal). Waiting time and the order processing time are in the acceptable region :) The restaurant is very neat and clean. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks.
