One of the prime locations in Oxford for a quick snack with friends, family and colleagues. The food and drink options are plenty and you can order from your table and food/drinks will be delivered to your table. It is situated alongside the river which makes it an amazing experience.

Was visiting Oxford on a very sunny day, and had been told good things about Head of the River.I stopped in at lunch time for a beer, waiting for a friend to join, and then we had a few more. Was great sat outside by the river. Special shout out to the very hard working man who was hosting, he was running a tight ship! The whole place was very friendly and organised.Would advise booking in advance if you know it's going to be a nice day and want to eat/sit right on the river's edge - Got very busy!

So the 5 stars are for the staff as these guys are the real jewels of this place. The hotel itself is good if you like historic and quirky with a lot of charm. Obviously it's not polished and modern as it is a listed building so need to bear that mind. The rooms are creaky and have a charm. The breakfast was amazing and the staff (again) shone especially as I have dietary requirements which they were very informed of. We also wished to change rooms as the initial one was exposed to a lot of traffic noise (room 11) and didn't have the best mattress and again they could not be more helpful and moved us to room 4. As this was a lower priced room they refunded me the difference for both nights not just the 2ndnight. Most generous. Thanks to all the staff from the front of house, restaurant and housekeeping you were all amazing and I hope Fuller's are aware just how good these guys are.

Loving the food and the environment.. staff friendly.. beef pie was super good..its succulent and tender, gravy depth in flavour and the staff mention that it took them 3 days to made the gravy. Highly recommended especially during bright sunny day..

Excellent selection of beer.I had high hopes for their roast sirloin, but was bitterly dissapointed. The cauliflower cheese was amazing, as were the carrots, but the meat was truely awful with only 2 tiny slices of mostly gristle, the roast potatoes were uncooked in the middle and without any crunch or crisp. The manager was very appologetic after the meal as nobody checked before and offered a full refund.Stars are for the amazing beer and bar staff, might try the food again one day.

A very nice pub/hotel in the heart of Oxford. My partner and I both very much enjoyed our stay here. The staff are very courteous and the food is amazing. I had the best apple crumble I've ever had here without a doubt.I felt very welcome right from the start.I'm not sure however whether because I booked quite close to my check-in date whether the price of my room was inflated or not, I'm not quite sure the price of the room was reflected in what was on offer. It definitely looked different to what was on the website. The bathroom was a very nice room if not a little small, unfortunately the ceiling above the shower was slightly damaged and looked a bit mouldy (on reflection I should have said something to the staff at the time and I'm sure they would have taken it on board and dealt with it once we checked out) however this didn't dampen my experience with them. Regardless I would recommend The Head of the River to anyone who was going to Oxford, whether it's to stay the night or to go for a dining experience as you definitely cannot go wrong with their food.

Really really good food, so glad I came across this place! It has a nice view too, when the weather is better it would probably be amazing. The staff were really nice and accommodating when we wanted to move next to a heater… overall great experience.

Firstly, a big up to the staff. Great customer service with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was great and nothing was too much trouble. Great location. Parking at the Park and ride 1 mile away was easy and the cheapest option with a quick bus ride that stopped right opposite the hotel. The rooms were old with a modern twist.Would definitely stay again....

We made reservations to eat here based off of location and other reviews. We were not disappointed! Our server, Manuela, was so attentive and had a great attitude! The food was most excellent: two of us got the beef roast, one the pork belly (as a roast), and I had the beef pie. Everything was delicious and we all loved our meals. The desserts were just as fabulous and I highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding!
