Comfy rooms and friendly staff. Nice breakfast and beer choices. A great place on the edge of the city as a base to explore Oxford

Had an event at this establishment for my grandmothers funeral. We had a load of requirements for the food and none was met. We was meant to receive a menu as we was being charged per head but received nothing. The food provided was appauling, I honestly believe tescos pre seasoned chicken could produce better quality. No seasoning, rice was undercooked. The curry provided tasted like water. Deeply disappointed as this was meant to be a good send off for my grandmother. Now we are stuck with loads of food that we had to throw away as no one wanted to eat it . If you are planning to have an event that is catered by this establishment I would suggest looking other places.

Good food, decent pint and pleasant staff. Nice airy feel to the pub. Only comment was the gents could do with a makeover.

Lovely rooms, friendly staff and great food!My partner and I were only staying for one night as a stop on a journey but are so pleased we found it and will definitely be returning. The room was a good size, well decorated and comfortable - we felt at home straight away. Staff were welcoming and polite, nothing seemed too much trouble. We had dinner as well as breakfast and both meals were fantastic, good portion sizes and a few nice options on the menu. We'd definitely recommend The Black Boy, both for food and to stay.

Lovely decor and atmosphere. Good choice on the menu. The food was a great standard. Only comment would be that the brownie was more like a chocolate cake (a bit bland) than a brownie but this place is still overall worthy of 5 stars!

Lovely food and enclosed beer garden at rear. I had the 2 course lunch menu including a glass of wine, husband eat off the main menu and kids were satisfied with their choices off the kids menu. Good value and tasty

The venue is ideally placed with a very nice garden. However, the current owners appear to have taken their eye off the ball. The lager was off and the Chilean rose wine tasted like red wine vinegar, was unchilled and served in an over sized glass. What a shame we were regulars but no more.

Arrived one hour earlier than our booking, greeted warmly and all staff very welcoming. Food was delicious with quality ingredients. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to return 😊
