The One in Oxford

Building looks a bit tired from the outside, but have always wanted to try this restaurant as pass quite regularly going to and from Oxford. I had the opportunity recently....Don't be fooled by a little shabbiness in relation to the windows, all part of the character!The welcome is warm, wine okay and decently priced. The food was extremely tasty, very flavoursome! I'd say good value for money and well presented.I'd definitely return to this establishment and I am sure that I shall be made to feel welcome yet again!There is also a beer garden which will be lovely in the summer I am sure.

Excellent lunchtime meal, pity there's no real ale any more, had to make do with bottled Doom Bar! Good service reasonable surroundings, would definitely eat here again.

Nice atmosphere, but don't expect proper Chinese food or decent service. Dishes were mostly insipid and staff wouldn't let us order any kind of dessert for a birthday.

I came here on Friday night for a Christmas meal. We decided to order the three course 'chef's choice' menu where the staff brought out dishes for the table that they thought we would enjoy. All of the food was amazing and the staff were happy to cater for various diets and allergies - we had a vegetarian and smaller dishes were brought directly to him. There was also a person in our group with some unusual allergies and they were able to substitute ingredients to make sure she could eat (so presumably the food was all made fresh to order!).The staff were incredibly attentive throughout the night. Fantastic service. The food and drink menus are both extensive with plenty of vegetarian options. It was pricey but you could easily eat there more cheaply if you stick to the a la carte menu instead of the set menus. For the quality, everything was very reasonably priced. Highly recommend

The One was, no doubt, the closest eatery and drinkers to where I and a few friends lived while spending a summer in Oxford, so many an evening of mischief was spent here.It feels pretty prototypically pub-ish, especially from the outside, which makes the ensuing fusion Asian cuisine (Japanese, Thai, and Chinese, mostly) and tiki drinks all the more shocking. Still, it was "our" pub, and it was never too busy, so it was always easy to get a tasty drink quite quickly.It served me well, too, because I prefer sweeter and/or more dessert or fruity type alcoholic drinks rather than just beer, which made me a bit of an outlier among my pint-enjoying peers. I could always find something for me at The One, which made me happy. Lots of cocktails and such, always served with a strawberry cut with a very disarming smile.Honestly, kind of a strange place! But not a bad place. Many fond memories here. :)

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The food in excellent and so tasty and the staff are so friendly and lovely.

Great food. The duck with plum sauce was the best I have eaten. Excellent service. Service fee was not charged. The dessert for my mom’s birthday was not charged too.

An amazing experience : The food, service and the ambience - everything is great.The One is a fusion restaurant and pub which has a large number of choices in food (Chinese) and drinks. You would find a number of tasty dishes - chicken, duck, pork, fish and beef. In addition to large number of choices, they also have excellent service.The drinks menu is among the most extensive in Oxford with large number of wines, cocktails, whiskeys, mocktails, shakes and soft drinks.We ordered the "Leave it to us feast" where we had 5 different kinds of starters (two dishes of chicken, seaweed, pork and spring rolls) and 3 main course items (duck, pork and chicken), with rice. I would say that every item was amazing in taste. The service was top class as well. I would definitely recommend.

A fantastic restaurant, amazing food, even better drinks! If you book a table for a special occasion (birthdays...) they prepare a celebration at the end of your meal! They also show football matches, including champions league. This place never disappoints me!!
