Five of us visited here on Mothers Day. The consensus was that food of good quality and generous portions. Bill came to a total of £127. Prices are about 20% higher than similar establishments. But don't be put off going. Wednesday's are 25% off day if you join their club. Decor is very nice with a great beer garden.

What a surprise! My boyfriend booked the Sunday roast at The Victoria Arms during our small trip to Oxford from London, and, coming from a countryside lover, I straight felt home as soon as we got there. The pub is super cosy, warm, and welcoming, the whole staff was delivering great customer service and I loved to see so many families and dogs enjoining the afternoon. But the roast pork wow.. Probably one of the best I ever had in my life! This place is definitely a must to go!

We came to Oxford for a day of shopping and stopped for lunch hoping for an affordable meal. The location of the pub is stunning and ideal for those with pets as it's incredibly spacious and the waiting staff are courteous and willing to help out with any requests we had. It was definitely value for money as the food was delicious and served in liberal portions! We sat for a lot longer than expected due to the comfortable atmosphere and the amazing food, as well as the wide range of drinks (alcoholic and soft) that was available to us! I would recommend this pub for anyone thinking of visiting Oxford for a delicious meal and a drink, as well as a scenic environment that seems so different from the city centre. Can't wait to return!

Lovely food and service from the staff. Sunday roast chicken was cooked well as had a lovely selection of roasted vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower. The Affogato was delicious, served with homemade shortbread biscuit and an espresso shot.I would recommend this restaurant and think it would be amazing during the summer with the outdoor terrace and river running behind.

Excellent food. I had the lighter fish and chips and earnestly believe the chips to be the best I've had in Oxfordshire. The scenery is great and the interior is very atmospheric. The only thing I take off a star for is the time taken to prepare the food. It took over an hour for our food to arrive, which caused some stress as we were on a longer lunch break at the time.

lovely location by the river, but that is about it in terms of good things. I have been about 5 times in the last year and disappointed every time. They had run out of food 3 times, with it not being busy at the times, and the one time they did have food it was below standard for the money you pay. The last time we came they were closed during their publicly advertised opening times with no information anywhere about the closure. Come here at your own peril if you expect a pub serving food or even being open.

Very nice food, if a little on the expensive side for starters and deserts The Sunday roast ran out before our late afternoon booking, which was a little disappointing. A stunning view of the Cherwell and a delightful sunset. The staff were friendly if a little disorganised. Overall a very pleasurable visit

This review is about the huge area of meadows and fields surrounding the Victoria Arms public house - not forgetting the river Cherwell that runs past the bottom of the pub’s garden.Turning into Victoria Arms Drive from Mill Lane there are small fields to the north and south. The northern field is a tiny play area with goalposts. The southern field seems to show signs of ‘ridge and furrow’ farming practised in the middle ages.Further north of the play area is Cumberlege Close and then Hill View Farm which stretches up to the northern bypass. This is where Oxford City Council (OCC) has decided to build a new housing estate.South of the ‘ridge and furrow’ field are two/three agricultural fields. In the past these would have been off-limits to the public but they have recently become accessible for those wishing to walk around their periphery. As visitors head westwards along Victoria Arms Drive they will see, to the south, yet another agricultural field. To the north they will see Almonds Farm Fields and, to its west, Burnt Mill Meadow whose western border is the river Cherwell.Almond Farm Fields is on an elevated area of land. It looks as if bulldozers have built up an embankment to prevent the area from flooding when the river Cherwell overflows. This elevation provides some delightful views of Marston’s meadows. I’m not entirely clear but either one of these meadows is known as Marston Hamm or, alternatively, all of the meadows in this area might be known collectively by this name.On the other side of the river are further agricultural fields, meadows. The agricultural fields to the south of Victoria Arms Drive are quite disappointing in contrast to the green delights of the meadows to the north of the Drive. The southern limit of these agricultural fields is the Marston Ferry Road beyond which is another succession of meadows (known as New Marston Meadows). These are almost a mirror image of Marston Hamm. It is quite easy for the adventurous visitor to walk along the eastern side of the Cherwell and then cross the Marston Ferry Road to get to the pub.The Victoria Arms is thus surrounded by meadows and fields. If much of Hinksey and Botley are on the Thames flood plain on the western side of Oxford, then much of Marston is on the Cherwell flood plain on the eastern side of the city.A few decades ago the public had no access to the meadows on the western and eastern sides of Oxford but in recent years this has changed dramatically. It is now a joy to walk along these meadows. But its not going to last. The Oxford Flood Alleviation Scheme will turn west Oxford’s meadows into a huge water storage dump. And Marston’s meadows will eventually be drowned under another flood alleviation scheme to prevent the Cherwell from causing flood damage to the new housing estates in the area.Ironically, as beautiful as these meadows might be, and I do love them, they are next to useless for combatting rising global temperatures. They are just green car parks. Surely if lots of highly efficient water pumps were planted on Marston’s meadows, the OCC wouldn’t need yet another water storage dump?

Have been before to this pub but oh wow!! There was a huge transformation in the quality of the food!! Every food we ordered was so beautiful made and really delicious!!! The cold tomato soup was really creamy and had a lovely deep flavour. The chips were well made and the ketchup was very dense flavour that was a nice touch as well. The chicken had deep smoky flavour as well that was nice. The staff looked quite overwhelmed and felt the service can improve a bit but other than this highly recommend and would love to come back again!

Lovely pub garden adjacent to the river. Food menu is quite limited but the service is exceptional. Have to order via an app that is easy to use, accompanied by table service. A well oiled machine. Wasn't the biggest fan of the poutine.
