These excellent accommodations reinforce why my wife and I prefer to book privately owned, high quality option rather than hotels. Much more space, amazing facilities and run by people who really care about their visitors. This one tops them all. Great dedicated recreational area for family entertainment (table tennis, pool, table football and large public seating areas - even PacMan). Additionally there is a separate large communal kitchen area and free laundry facilities. Way more than expected. Before we even arrived we were already upgraded to one of the best apartments and when we were in need of extending our stay they did so with no bother and even allowed us the same upgraded apartment! Genuine people who demonstrate true hospitality and attention to detail. We definitely highly recommend Ashby’s

Came to Portsmouth with 3 friends for a night out. New to the city. If you’re coming with mates it’s in a great location next to good bars. Hosts absolutely lovely. We’ll be back!

We booked the entire Ashbys building for a stag party, there were 17 of us and they were able to comfortably accommodate us!The entertainment on offer was excellent, pool table, air hockey, ping pong, TV with sports channels and a bar. Unfortunately, the keg we ordered did not arrive due to a transport issue, but we managed to buy some crates from a local pub so disaster was averted! The area itself has lots of great bars and cafes to choose from so we were not stuck for beers in the evening or coffee in the morning. Everyone loved it and the feedback from the stag was excellent, i'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a private space to have some fun! 5/5 stars.

We had a fantastic time at this place, Mubi and Steven are super nice and friendly. The hot tub facility is clean, comfortable, and private. Would definitely recommend and will come back once we got the chance. Big thanks to Mubi and Steven again!

What a hidden gem! The staff were not o lying some of the most helpful we have encountered but the owners were such lovely kind people. Home from home. Can't wait to go back in the summer

Poor show!Due to Storm Arwen last weekend our trip to the UK was delayed. As a result I had to quickly rearrange timings, ferries, logistics, accommodation etc.I hurriedly booked Ashby’s Accommodation and will accept that I did not notice their cancellation policy at the time of booking, in my defense the ‘free cancellation’ filter is always applied when using Booking.com.However I became aware that, as I’m a bit of a car nut and my car is precious to me, that their parking arrangements were in my view unsuitable and contrary to what was stated within their facilities as noted.Again, under a bit of time pressure, I booked alternative accommodation and within the hour cancelled with Ashby’s Accommodation to only then become aware of their cancellation policy.I messaged Ashby’s Accommodation asking if I would indeed be charged and was met with a resounding YES.No amount of pleading with the owner made a difference. I make note here that they did eventually offer parking that would possibly have been more suitable but I had, as mentioned, booked elsewhere with the knowledge that this booking was not refundable etc.Just to also note part of our trip is based in Devon and the well known budget hotel chain we also had a booking with changed our non changeable non refundable booking without issue and we even received a small refund as the new day/dates worked out slightly cheaper.I feel that actually insisting on charging for a very quickly aborted, so no impact on other potential business booking, is very poor show and has never happened to us before. In my opinion, and for what it’s worth, this is not the best business practice to adopt. We are all living in strange times and we believe that a little bit more tolerance and understanding is without doubt needed more than ever.

We booked only an hour before our arrival, a last minute thing, which I feel could have been a little unfair on our hosts, however they were prepared for us on arrival and we got given a walk round the facilities and amenities downstairs before being shown to our beautiful room (room 7)There is a pool table and table top football and a huge TV in the bar area. There's also a lovely snug area with board games etc to chose from too! A fully functioning communal kitchen for those who like to chef for themselves even when away from home, and if your stay is a little longer or you've spilt something on your outfit there's even a washing machine!I live only 15 mins drive away and wanted a night away from home, Ashby's was perfect! The room was fresh, clean, warm and comfortable, a pretty and stylish room with Alexa, free WiFi, Amazon fire stick on the TV and tea and coffee making in room too, we had our own bathroom, the bath was bigger than my own at home which was just so great and the water was hot straight away, a very comfortable bed and the ability to adjust the heating for the room too.So close to the beach and lots of local shops in Southsea, in fact, some of my favourite stores in the nearby high Street!I can't thank you enough for such a lovely stay and we can't wait to come and stay again

Really beautiful room ( room 3). We stayed one night as doing the great south run. The hotel and our room were spotless. We had a small kitchenette area, fridge, roll top bath 😲, large shower. We were so impressed and very comfortable. Thankyou both. Juli x

I just wanted to say thank you to the owners. We stopped here for one night after a nightmare of a day - long story, but we'd been stuck in traffic, missed our ferry on Poole, had to travel to Portsmouth- with a very upset toddler and baby.So we voted this last minute. The owners were really nice and accommodating and sorted out everything really quickly. I felt like they really do care about their hotel and guests.Would recommend if your stopping in Portsmouth

Steve accommodated us in a last minute booking due to issues with our original booking. He responded so quickly to our messages and was very hospitable. Living only next door, he was on hand if there were any issues.I can't fault the room (and the facilities). They were all super clean, everything worked, and there were plenty of amenities. The shower was powerful, and hot water came through quickly. We had no issues with WiFi and the room was nicely decorated. If I return to Portsmouth I'll definitely stay here again, and I recommend it to anybody looking for somewhere to stay in the area.
