Aubergine in Portsmouth

Hi there guys. Eat here at your peril. Firstly the cutlery i was given had remnants of food from previous usage on fork. The waiter that served us had a year's worth of dirt under his finger nails. Disgusting. Not nice when they serve your food leaning over you and you get the serving of a sweaty armpit that hasn't seen soap and water for 6 month. And just to add insult to injury, the strongest garlic breath with a smile to take your money. Never again!!!!-.

So in this instance 2.5 stars for my delivered takeaway.I'm my humble opinion you can often accurately assess the quality of a takeaway by the quality of the sides and unfortunately for Haldi and me they were not good tonight.Its Friday so I can understand waiting a bit longer for my delivery, but this place started with some justifiably great reviews so why have the sides nosedived, I'm surprised that the chef even sent them out. The onion bhajis were dry and reheated, samosas looked like they came from Iceland and the chicken pakora had some overcooked outer batter with undercooked inside and a small piece of chicken tikka hidden within.. Filling the containers they came in with some salad did not make up for this "sides disaster" frankly not good enough and you will rapidly start to lose that hard won reputation if you keep this up.. If its not good enough, don't send it.. A simple effective rule that maintains quality and consistency... Forget this and you can forget repeat business.. If you don't care then give up and pass the business to someone who still has a passion for good food done well.. Maybe I got the dud but I doubt it, I'm surprised to be writing this but felt I have to in the hope you can stop the evident decline... Good luck

Spot on, after a night out I was on my way to my usual curry house to find out it had closed. I asked the taxi driver to suggest one and he did not disappoint. Walked in and was sat and seen to very quickly, food lovely and reasonably priced . I will be returning 👍

Dreadful, didn't even want to get the leftovers boxed up to take home. My friend ordered the same dish with no nuts and was served a completely different sauce. Chutney tray was lacking lime pickle and poppadoms didn't taste very fresh. No draught beer. Worst curry I've had in months, lucky to get 2 stars honestly.

Nice food. Impressed by quality and portion size. Cosy ambience with Tagore music in background was very soothing. Would recommend to anyone wanting to try genuine Indian food in Southsea area.

Absolutely unbelievable. I can’t find the words to describe this place but I will try to cover it with one. Splendid. The food, the service was brilliant and a special mention to the chef. A real technician. I have been a regular here since July 2020 and I will never EVER go to another Indian. If you’re reading this I recommend booking a table as soon as possible as it will be booked up throughout the whole of 2022.

Very attentive and professional staff. Food was decent but nothing really stood out as being amazing. Seeing all the positive reviews I had hoped for more.
